About ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’: Season 3 Premiere

The crime drama series is the second spin-off series of the “Power” franchise and tells the origin story of fan favorite character Kanan Stark, played by 50 Cent in the flagship series and by MeKai Curtis in the prequel. The series delves into the history of and and his entry into the criminal world through his mother Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller), the respected matriarch of the family’s drug empire.

Season 3 will pick up where the revealing journey of the previous two seasons left off as the Thomas family is in turmoil, reeling from the Mob’s attack on Raq, Marvin, and Lou-Lou. Raquel looks to make a fresh start, but can she ever really be out of the game? And will Kanan trust her when she says she’s done, or are his concerns well-founded?

In addition to Curtis and Miller, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” stars Omar Epps, London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Hailey Kilgore, Joey Bada$$, Antonio Ortiz, and Grantham Coleman. Season 3 will also see the return of Tony Danza as the Italian mob boss Stefano with Wendell Pierce and Erika Woods joining as new adversaries Snaps and Pops, respectively.

Ahead of its Season 3 premiere, Starz also just renewed “Power Book III” for a fourth season, which will begin production in New York in the week after Season 3’s premiere.
