Pluto to Launch 20+ New Channels Including ‘Price is Right,’ ‘Supermarket Sweep,’ ‘Baywatch,’ More

A new deal expansion between Pluto and Fremantle will see an excellent new programming lineup debut on Pluto.o soon.

Pluto TV viewers who haven’t clicked over to the free streaming service in a while may want to give it a new look. The service has announced an expansion of its deal with Fremantle Media and will begin distributing as many as 25 Fremantle-owned free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels in 13 countries, including the United States. Many of the channels are already available for customers to watch on Pluto, which is looking to attract new eyes by expanding even further beyond the good selection of movies the streamer is known for.

Key Details:

  • The U.S., Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and other countries will get access to 24 of Fremantle’s most popular FAST channels.
  • Most channels are single-show, allowing audiences to always know what’s on when they’re browsing.
  • Pluto customers in the United Kingdom will get the new “Escape to the Country” channel that will only be available there.

The new FAST channels rolling out on Pluto TV are coming to 13 countries total: Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy, San Marino, Demark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Twenty-four of the channels will premiere in each of these countries, while the all-new Escape to the Country channel is only available in the U.K. as of now, where the series “Escape to the Country” first originated.

Among the new FAST channels debuting on Pluto in these territories are: Baywatch, Supermarket Sweep, Family Feud Classic, Let’s Make a Deal, The Price is Right: Bob Barker, The Price is Right: Drew Carey, Alarm Fur Cobra, Project Runway, Prisoner and Jamie Oliver. The new deal will also see the Three’s Company channel become available outside the United States for the first time, starting with a launch in Canada this summer.

“We are beyond excited to expand, the Fremantle content offering on Pluto TV across international markets,” said Katrina Kowalski, SVP of International Content for Pluto. “Pluto TV’s mission to offer lean-back entertainment for fans around the world harnesses the spirit of content like Escape to the Country and Three’s Company, which are perfect for people to gather to watch from the comfort of their living rooms.”

“We are thrilled to be expanding our partnership with Pluto TV globally, extending Fremantle’s treasured IP to many new territories,” Fremantle SVP Laura Florence said. “Pluto TV’s state of the art platform provides a seamless streaming experience for viewers and makes it the perfect home for our channels. This is the next stage of our valued partnership with Pluto TV, as we continue to evolve our FAST strategy and content delivery for our global audience.”

The channels will mostly offer viewers just one show, so they can sit back and allow the content to just play episodes instead of having to worry about choosing which ones specifically to watch. One recent survey found that movies were the most popular segment of content on Pluto TV by far, and the platform could be trying to diversify its audience with new TV channels featuring highly popular lean-back shows.

Pluto TV carries a wide variety of channels overall, including news selections and even sports content. Viewers can head to the platform now to find the new FAST channels available in their region, and as always there’s no credit card required to sign up.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV is a free live TV streaming service that provides more than 350 channels of live TV and thousands of on demand movies and TV shows.

Most of what you’ll find on Pluto TV qualifies as “background television.” It’s fine to keep on while you’re scrolling on your phone or cooking something in the kitchen.

Because these aren’t traditional live TV channels, it’s not a great option for live events, news, or sports, but it’s a solid choice for cord cutters who want to supplement their other services with some “comfort food” TV. You’ll find channels dedicated to “Star Trek,” “CSI,” “Jersey Shore,” “Survivor,” and “The Amazing Race.”
