“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” Comes to Max

Following its December theatrical premiere, the recent DC blockbuster “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will make its streaming debut on Max this month!

James Wan returns to the helm in the Jason Momoa-starrer, which sees Aquaman turn to his imprisoned brother and former King of Atlantis Orm (Patrick Wilson) and set aside their differences to save their family and the world as Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) now wields the power of the Black Trident, vowing to stop at nothing to avenge to his father’s death.

In addition to Momoa, Wilson, and Abdul-Mateen II, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, Randall Park, and John Rhys-Davies also reprise their roles in the sequel with Temuera Morrison, Martin Short, Vincent Regan, Jani Zhao, Indya Moore, and others.

The film has earned $433 million at the global box office, a relatively modest sum compared to 2018’s “Aquaman,” which earned $1.152 billion worldwide and holds the record as DC’s highest-grossing film.

Prime Video Orders Federer Documentary

Following recent spotlights on Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jason Kelce, and others, Prime Video will serve up its next sports documentary. The streamer has ordered a currently untitled feature-length documentary centered on the final 12 days of tennis superstar Roger Federer’s illustrious career.

Directed by Oscar winner Asif Kapadia (“Amy”) and Joe Sabia, the project, described as “an intimate follow,” gives viewers a candid and vulnerable look at the former world No. 1 and eight-time Wimbledon men’s singles champion as he says goodbye to the game and fans that shaped his life over the past two decades.

The documentary will also feature interviews with friends and fellow greats Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray.

The documentary will premiere exclusively on Prime Video at a date to be announced later.

Netflix Releases Oscar-Nominated “Nimona” Free on YouTube

With 18 Academy Award nominations across 10 titles to its name this season, Netflix is making one of its nominees more accessible to the masses.

The streamer has released “Nimona” on YouTube for free, likely hoping to get more eyes on its 2024 Oscar nominee for Best Animated Feature Film (and to draw even more subscribers to its steadily climbing total).

Watch “Nimona” below:

Set in a science fantasy world influenced by the Middle Ages, “Nimona” follows the title protagonist Nimona (voiced by Chloë Grace Moretz), a mischievous teen and shapeshifter who latches onto Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), a knight who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. She’s the only one who can prove his innocence, but little does she know she’s also the creature he’s sworn to destroy.

The film also features the voice talents of Eugene Lee Yang, Frances Conroy, Lorraine Toussaint, Beck Bennett, RuPaul, Indya Moore, Julio Torres, and others.

“Nimona” is one of 10 Netflix films nominated for an Oscar this season. In Best Animated Feature Film, it will face off against “The Boy and the Heron,” “Elemental,” “Robot Dreams,” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”
