Netflix Releases “Bridgerton” Season 3 Trailer

Netflix has released the long-awaited trailer for the two-part third season of its acclaimed regency romance series.

In Season 3 of the Shondaland series, which will center on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), Penelope has given up on her long-held crush on Colin and has decided to find a husband that will allow her to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown. But lacking in confidence, her attempts fail spectacularly. Colin, eager to win back her friendship, offers to mentor Penelope to help her find the confidence she needs to find a husband. “But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.”

Season 3 will also star Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Lorraine Ashbourne, Hannah Dodd, Simone Ashley, Jonathan Bailey, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Jessica Madsen, Florence Hunt, Martins Imhangbe, Will Tilston, Polly Walker, and Julie Andrews with additional appearances from Hugh Sachs, Emma Naomi, Kathryn Drysdale, and Sam Phillips.

The first batch of Season 3 will premiere on the platform on Thursday, May 16, with the second batch of four episodes arriving on June 13.


BBC, Prime Video Set Return For Two New Seasons of “The Night Manager”

The Night Manager” is starting a new shift.

Prime Video and the BBC have announced the return of its multi-award-winning drama series, which will return for two new seasons.

Inspired by the characters in John le Carré’s best-selling novel of the same name, “The Night Manager” follows Jonathan Pine (played by Tom Hiddleston), the night manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo and a former British soldier, who is recruited by a Foreign Office task force investigating illegal arms sales to infiltrate the inner circle of an arms dealer (Hugh Laurie).

Season 2 will pick up eight years after the explosive finale of Season 1 with Hiddleston reprising his role. The new season will once again be written by creator David Farr with BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies (“I Hate Suzie”) attached to direct all six episodes. Laurie will also executive produce the upcoming season.

In addition to Hiddleston and Laurie, the first season of “The Night Manager” also starred Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, Elizabeth Debicki, Alistair Petrie, Natasha Little, Douglas Hodge, David Harewood, Tobias Menzies, and more.

The series was one of 2016’s most-watched TV shows and one of the most acclaimed, with Hiddleston, Laurie, and Colman all taking home their respective Golden Globe acting statuettes and the series winning multiple further Globes, Primetime Emmy Awards, and BAFTA Awards.

Filming is scheduled to begin later this year. The new seasons of “The Night Manager” will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom and globally on Prime Video.


Apple TV+ Renews “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” Announces Spin-Off Plans

Apple TV+ is diving back into the Monsterverse.

The streamer has renewed its global hit series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” from Legendary Entertainment, part of a multi-series deal to develop multiple spinoff series based on the franchise.

Following the events of 2014’s “Godzilla,” where the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans proved that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” follows siblings Cate (Anna Sawai) and Kentaro (Ren Watabe) as they follow in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization Monarch.

Spanning three generations, the series also stars Kiersey Clemons, Wyatt Russell, Kurt Russell, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski with additional appearances from Takehiro Hira, Qyoko Kudo, Christopher Heyerdahl, Mirelly Taylor, Tamlyn Tomita, Bruce Baek, Jess Salgueiro, Dominique Tipper, Morgan Dudley, and more.

“Legacy of Monsters” is the latest addition to Legendary's 10-year-old Monsterverse, which kicked off in 2014 and has continued with 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island,” 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” 2021’s “Godzilla vs. Kong,” and the recent record-breaking “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” which has so far earned $380 million at the global box office.


Trailer for Peacock’s “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” Adaptation Out Now

Peacock’s upcoming adaptation of Heather Morris’ “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” has received its first trailer.

The upcoming six-episode series, written by Gabbie Asher, is based on Morris’ bestseller and inspired by the real-life love and survival story of Jewish Holocaust survivors Lali and Gita Sokolov (played by Jonah Hauer-King and Anna Próchniak, respectively). In 1942, Lali arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau and shortly after was made one of the camp’s tätowierers, forced to ink identification numbers onto fellow prisoners’ arms. One day, he meets Gita when tattooing her prisoner number on her arm, and the pair, under constant guard by a volatile Nazi SS officer (Jonas Nay), become determined to keep each other alive. About 60 years later, an older and recently widowed Lali (Harvey Keitel) meets up with novice writer Morris (Melanie Lynskey) to tell the world his and Gita’s story.

The series also features Isaac Gryn, Meli Eshet, Avital Lvova, Tamlyn Henderson, Levi Mattey, and Dylan Corbett-Bader, among others, and will also feature the music of Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve.

“The Tattooist of Auschwitz” will premiere on Peacock in the United States on Thursday, May 2.


Prime Video Sets First Arabic Series Acquisition With “Self Modulation”

Prime Video has expanded its boundaries and acquired its first-ever Arabic TV series, landing the world rights for the Beirut-set hour-long dramedy series “Self Modulation.”

Written by Foad Yammine, Rami Awad, and Mayar Al Nouri, “Self Modulation” follows Ahmad (played by Maxim Khalil), a Syrian man living undocumented in Lebanon whose life takes a dramatic turn after he witnesses a tragic and traumatic event, leading him to take a job at a suicide hotline center. As he navigates his work, his “dreams of fame and recognition lead him down a path of deception and destruction.”

In addition to Khalil, the cast also features Carole El Hajj, Foad Yammine, Natasha Choufani, Leen Gherra, and Abbas Al Nouri.

The 10-episode series will premiere on Prime Video in Q2 2024 with an exact date to be announced later.


Apple TV+ Releases Trailer for New Sci-Fi Series “Dark Matter”

The trailer for Apple TV+’s latest sci-fi series “Dark Matter” is out now.

Based on the bestselling book of the same name by Blake Crouch (who serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer), the new, nine-episode Apple Original series follows Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton), a physicist-professor-family man who is abducted into an alternate version of his life. But “wonder quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the mind-bending landscape of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself.”

In addition to Edgerton, the series also stars Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, and Oakes Fegley.

“Dark Matter” is the latest of Apple TV’s expanding slate of sci-fi projects, including “For All Mankind,” “Invasion,” “Foundation,” “Severance,” and more. It will premiere exclusively and globally on the streamer with its first two episodes on Wednesday, May 8, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through June 26.
