Hulu Renews “Futurama” For Two Seasons

Good news, everyone! After reviving the beloved series this past July, Hulu has given a two-season renewal to “Futurama.”

The long-running (and often paused) adult animated series will return for Seasons 13 and 14 and an additional 20 episodes. First premiering in 1999, the Emmy winner received a revival from the streamer in last year with Season 11 arriving on the platform this past summer.

The animated comedy follows Philip J. Fry, a New York City pizza delivery boy, who accidentally freezes himself in 1999 and gets defrosted in the year 3000 in New New York, where he befriends hard-drinking robot Bender, falls in love with cyclops Leela, and works at the Planet Express Delivery Company. After its 10-year hiatus, the series picks up with “developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles” and satirizes current events, from vaccines to (fittingly) streaming TV.

The series stars a voice cast led by Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman.

Season 12 of “Futurama” is expected to debut on Hulu in 2024.
