Disney+ Unveils Trailer for “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire”
A month away from its debut, the new Disney+ and Lucasfilm animated shorts series “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire” has received its first trailer and key art.
The second installment of “Tales” series, following the critically acclaimed 2022 series “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi,” the Dave Filoni-created “Tales of the Empire” travels deep inside the fearsome Galactic Empire through the eyes of two warriors on separate paths and in different eras: young Morgan Elsbeth, who is navigating “the expanding Imperial world toward a path of vengeance,” and former Jedi Barriss Offee, who is doing “what she must do to survive a rapidly changing galaxy.

The voice cast of the six-episode series is led by Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth), Meredith Salenger (Barriss Offee), Rya Kihlstedt (Lyn aka Fourth Sister), Wing T. Chao (Wing), Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn), Jason Isaacs (Grand Inquisitor), and Matthew Wood (General Grievous).
“Star Wars: Tales of the Empire” is due out on—when else?—Saturday, May 4, exclusively on Disney+.
Paramount+ Announces Melissa Etheridge Docu-Series
Paramount+ has announced “Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken,” a two-part music and docuseries. The Grammy winner and activist executive produces the project, which explores themes of female incarceration, redemption, substance abuse, generational trauma, grief, and healing as five female residents of the Topeka Correctional Facility in Kansas write letters to Etheridge she, then, uses to create and perform an original song for them.
Already connected to the story through her hometown of Topeka and to the cycles of addiction and incarceration informed by the recent loss of her son to opioids, Etheridge also hopes the docuseries “shows viewers the challenges that women face in our prison system while also serving as a resource to those who currently are struggling.”
Etheridge will next appear as a presenter at the 2024 CMT Music Awards this Sunday, April 7, on CBS and Paramount+.
A release date for “Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken” will be announced at a later date.
Max’s “Turtles All The Way Down” Adaptation Gets Trailer
This spring, another John Green adaptation is heading to the screen.
Max’s adaptation of Green’s 2017 novel “Turtles All The Way Down” has received its first trailer ahead of its Thursday, May 2, premiere on the streamer.
The bestselling novel depicts the struggle of anxiety through the eyes of 17-year-old Aza Holmes (played by Isabela Merced), who is “trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, and a good student, all while navigating an endless barrage of invasive, obsessive thoughts that she cannot control.” When she reconnects with her childhood crush, Davis (Felix Mallard), she is confronted with fundamental questions about her potential for happiness, friendship, and love.

The ensemble also includes Cree, Maliq Johnson, Poorna Jagannathan, Judy Reyes, and J. Smith-Cameron.
The new adaptation follows previous adaptations of Green’s work including 2014’s “The Fault in Our Stars” and 2019’s “Let It Snow.”

Crunchyroll Announces Spring Lineup
Plan your spring watchlist with Crunchyroll! The streaming platform has announced its Spring 2024 anime season, including the acquisition of several newly announced titles, including “Dragon Raja -The Blazing Dawn-,” “A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics,” and more.
The latest additions join the previously announced “My Hero Academia” Season 7, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” Season 3, “Sound! Euphonium” Season 3, and “RoOT/Route of OddTaxi.”
So far this week, Crunchyroll has seen the debuts of several new series, including “Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF” and “Train to the End of the World.” On its simulcast calendar, subscribers can tune in this weekend for the premieres of “Sound!
