“The Crown” Season 6 Gets Two-Part Premiere

It’s coronation time for Season 6 of Netflix’s hit period drama “The Crown.” The streamer has officially announced a premiere date for the sixth and final season of the series centered on the British monarchy with its first four episodes debuting on Nov. 16 and and final six episodes four weeks later on Dec. 14.

The final season of the series will span 1997-2005 with Part One depicting the relationship between Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) and the 1997 car crash in Paris that killed them. Part Two will feature the wedding of Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams), while also focusing on William (Ed McVey) and Harry (Luther Ford).

Imelda Staunton will play the latest incarnation of Queen Elizabeth II, taking over from Claire Foy and most recently Olivia Colman. The cast will also star Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, Salim Daw, Bertie Carvel, Lydia Leonard, Andrew Haville, Marcia Warren, and others.


“Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie” Gets First Look

It’s a jungle out there, but Adrian Monk is always on the case. The beloved homicide detective-turned-consultant is back for a brand-new case—his final one—for the first time in 12 years with the upcoming Peacock Exclusive feature film “Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie,” which will debut on the streamer on Dec. 8.

Tony Shaloub returns in the title role he originated in the long-running, Emmy-winning “Monk” to solve one last, very personal case involving his stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.

Series stars Ted Levine, Jason Gray-Stanford, Traylor Howard, and Melora Hardin will all return with Caitlin McGee and James Purefoy joining the cast.


“The Spiderwick Chronicles” Series Lands on the Roku Channel

The Roku Channel has come to the rescue for the “The Spiderwick Chronicles.” After its recent cancellation by Disney+, the TV adaptation of the acclaimed book series by the same name has landed at the streamer with plans to debut as an eight-episode Roku Original in early 2024.

A coming-of-age story, “The Spiderwick Chronicles” follows the Grace Family as they move from New York to Michigan and into their family’s ancestral home. But upon arrival, the family not only uncovers mysteries hidden inside their great-grandfather’s Spiderwick Estate but also discovers a secret, fantastical world around them.

The series will star Joy Bryant as Helen, Noah Cottrell as Simon, Lyon Daniels as Jared, Mychala Lee as Mallory, Jack Dylan Grazer as the voice of Thimbletack, and Christian Slater as Mulgarath.

An ensemble cast of actors bring the series’ beloved characters to life including Joy Bryant as “Helen Grace”; Noah Cottrell as “Simon Grace”; Lyon Daniels as “Jared Grace”; Mychala Lee as “Mallory Grace”; Jack Dylan Grazer as the voice of “Thimbletack” and Christian Slater as “Mulgarath.”


New HBO Original Documentary “The Insurrectionist Next Door” Gets Premiere Date

HBO has announced the premiere date for its latest Original documentary “The Insurrectionist Next Door.”

The latest from Alexandra Pelosi (“Pelosi in the House,” “Journeys with George”), the new feature-length documentary will, through a series of candid interviews conducted over the past two years, take a closer look at some of the individuals who stormed the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and their participation in the events. “The Insurrectionist Next Door” marks Pelosi’s 15th film for the premium cabler.

The HBO Original will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will be available to stream on Max.


HBO Releases Official Trailer for “The Gilded Age” Season 2

Max has released the first official trailer for Season 2 of “The Gilded Age”, which will premiere on the streamer on Oct. 29.

Season 2 of the hit Julian Fellowes (“Downton Abbey”) period drama will begin on Easter morning 1883 with the news that Bertha Russell’s (played by Carrie Coon) bid for a box at the Academy of Music has been rejected and her subsequent challenging of Mrs. Astor (Donna Murphy) to break through the system of old versus new money.

The star-studded “The Gilded Age” also stars Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Ben Ahlers, Michael Cerveris, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Debra Monk, Kristine Nielsen, Kelli O’Hara, Patrick Page, Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti, and many others. The series has already been renewed for a third season.


4K Restoration of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” Coming to Disney+

With a whistle and a song and a bright new look, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is getting a new 4K restoration that will land on Disney+ later this week.

The first full-length cel animated feature in film history and Disney’s first animated feature, the remastered 1937 classic will arrive on the platform to celebrate The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary on Oct. 16. The team behind the new restoration also recently worked together on the restoration of 1950’s “Cinderella,” which debuted on Disney+ on Aug. 25.

The film, which was led by Adriana Caselotti in the title voice role, which was recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences with a special honorary Oscar, was inducted into the National Film Registry in 1989, the registry’s inaugural year.
