TNT Strikes Deal with Dome Arena Builder Cosm to Offer Sporting Events in 8K at Venues

If a Cosm venue is coming to your city soon, you’ll be able to watch top professional sports from TNT in a way you’ve never seen before.

If you’ve ever seen the Las Vegas Sphere in action, you know the power of an immersive media experience. Cosm arenas won’t be quite as gaudy or pronounced when they are up and running, but they do aim to provide a similar “shared reality” experience that bridges the virtual and physical worlds through Cosm’s pioneered technology and 87-foot diameter LED domes.

  • Cosm has struck a deal with TNT to offer Turner Sports games like NBA, NHL, and U.S. Soccer contests at its arenas.
  • The company has a similar agreement in place with NBA League Pass, which was ironed out in February.
  • Turner Sports are available at no extra cost to Max subscribers until Feb. 29, 2024.

What Does New Cosm/TNT Deal Mean?

To help ensure that Cosm venues are a hub for young sports fans, the company has announced a new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to import events from Turner Sports into Cosm arenas. Specifically, Cosm will get the rights to show sports from TNT, including regular season and playoff NBA games, the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, and select matches from the Men’s and Women’s U.S. Soccer teams.

“This partnership is transformative, not just for Cosm but for the live sports and entertainment industry at large,” said Jeb Terry, CEO and President at Cosm. “We are thrilled to team with TNT Sports to bring award-winning live coverage of the NBA, NHL, and U.S. National Soccer Teams to fans in a new way — by giving them the best seats in the house, every time. Cosm enables the best of at-home and in-venue, delivering the ultimate fan experience. It is a privilege to work with great partners like TNT Sports who also share an innovative spirit and commitment to the fan experience.”

TNT is not the only provider to agree to send content to Cosm arenas this year. In February, the company agreed to terms with the NBA to offer select NBA League Pass contests in Cosm venues. If these offerings draw big crowds, more sports leagues will likely sign on to offer their events in Cosm’s domes as well.

Cosm venues will be able to offer live sports and other events in 8K, which is double the pixels of the top commercially available screen resolution 4K. Simply put, these arenas will offer top sporting events in the highest resolution possible, making for a totally immersive fan experience. The first two Cosm locations are set to open in Los Angeles and Dallas in 2024.

Where Else Can You Watch Sports on TNT?

If you don’t live in an area where a Cosm venue is being built, or you simply don’t want to wait to enjoy the live sports available on TNT, you’re in luck. Every single sporting event broadcast on TNT is now available to stream on Max, having been added to the service at the beginning of October via the Bleacher Report add-on.

Max is making this content free to subscribers until Feb. 29, 2024. That means that for as little as $9.99 per month, you can enjoy all of TNT’s live NHL and NBA games live on the platform. TNT is also available via five distinct live TV streaming services if you’d rather add more cable news, sports, and entertainment to your lineup in addition to that channel.
