Marv Studios, the distant British cousin of Marvel Studios, takes on the 2010 comic adaptation about Dave, a nerdy teenager who takes his comic book obsession to the next level when he reinvents himself as a superhero called Kick-Ass and tries to fight crime… and maybe gets in too deep when he joins forces with Big Daddy and his 11-year-old daughter, the ruthless vigilante Hit-Girl. Aaron Johnson, Nicolas Cage, and Chloë Grace Moretz lead the cast with Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Mark Strong, Lyndsy Fonseca, Clark Duke, Evan Peters, Sophie Wu, and more.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” | Friday, Dec. 1

The cult queer classic takes a rest stop at Freevee for December. The Australian road comedy follows two drag queens and a trans woman as they head west from Sydney to perform a drag show at a remote Australian resort. On their journey in Priscilla, their lavender bus, the friends (like the film’s audience) encounter strange characters, widen their comfort zones, and find new horizons. Hugo Weaving, Terence Stamp, Guy Pearce, and the title “budget Barbie camper” star.

The Night of the Hunter” | Friday, Dec. 1

Once critically panned, the 1955 noir thriller has enjoyed its hunt to become regarded as one of film history’s best and most influential. Robert Mitchum stars as Harry Powell, a misogynistic serial killer who poses as a preacher and charms an unsuspecting widow (Shelley Winters) to get his hands on $10,000 hidden by her executed husband. Charles Laughton helms the feature (his first and only) with Lillian Gish, Billy Chapin, Sally Jane Bruce, James Gleason, Evelyn Varden, and more making up the ensemble.

Night Court” | Friday, Dec. 15

The classic NBC sitcom spent nine seasons and nearly 200 episodes on the air, potentially the longest night shift in the history of the Manhattan Criminal Court. Harry Anderson leads the cast as the unorthodox Judge Harold “Harry” T. Stone with four-time Emmy winner John Larroquette, Richard Moll, Markie Post, Florence Halop, Marsha Warfield, Charles Robinson, and more burning the midnight oil.

Fringe” Seasons 1-5 | Sunday, Dec. 31

Anna Torv, John Noble, Joshua Jackson, Jasika Nicole, Lance Reddick, Blair Brown, and Kirk Acevedo lead J.J. Abrams’ cult sci-fi series that, too, has existed on the fringe since its debut in 2008. Over its five seasons, the story follows Olivia, Dr. Walter Bishop, Peter, and FBI Junior Agent Astrid, the team behind the FBI’s Fringe Division, as they’re tasked to investigate unusual crimes, occurrences, and science gone awry.
