What Time Will ‘Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)’ Be Released on Disney+?

Originally announced to drop on Disney+ on Friday, March 15, the streamer moved back the release by a few hours.

When Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Taylor Swift’s record-breaking concert film “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” would be coming to Disney+, the original plan was for the latest version of the film — aptly dubbed “Taylor’s Version — to be released on Friday, March 15. However, the legions of Swifties around the world are going to get a few hours of extra viewing time, as the film will actually drop a few hours earlier than originally planned.

  • Originally planned to premiere on Disney+ on Friday, the concert film will now premiere on the streamer on Thursday evening.
  • Two of the four bonus acoustic songs that are being added to “Taylor’s Version” of the film have been confirmed.
  • “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” grossed more than $260 million at the box office, making it the biggest concert film in history.

When “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)” premieres on Disney+, it will be an updated version from the one that played in movie theaters last year, and the extended cut version that was available for rent on Amazon’s Prime Video. This version of the concert film will include four acoustic bonus songs; two have already been confirmed to be “Maroon” and “Death by a Thousand Cuts.”

With four more songs added to “Taylor’s Version” of the film, it’s a good thing that Disney+ took pity on all of the Swifties worldwide and announced that they would be releasing the film in the evening of Thursday, March 14, so that fans wouldn’t need to stay up until 3 a.m. ET/12 midnight PT to watch the concert in its entirety. Instead, “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)” will be available to stream on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Bringing Swift’s concert extravaganza to Disney+ is a huge coup for Disney. While this is not the first Swift project to stream on Disney+, following 2020’s “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,” the global superstar’s intimate, behind-the-scenes documentary “Miss Americana” streams on Netflix, so it was a possibility that the world’s largest streamer might make since to be the streaming home for the world’s biggest artist’s record-breaking concert film.

Directed by Sam Wrench, no major studio initially wanted to partner with Swift to make the film, so the reigning queen of popular music teamed with AMC movie theaters to release “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” directly in theaters, where it grossed over $260 million at the global box office, making it the top-selling concert film of all-time. The fact that Disney was able to secure the rights to stream the film should be a “Hamilton”-sized boon for Disney+.

“’The Eras Tour’ has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said last month, “and we are very excited to bring this electrifying concert to audiences wherever they are, exclusively on Disney+.”
