YouTube TV Introduces New Hindi-Language Zee Family Add-On Pack; Everything You Need to Know

YouTube TV’s popularity among customers is likely to grow even further thanks to its new Zee Family channel pack.

There’s already a huge selection of channels available through YouTube TV’s add-on packs, but the streamer wants to make sure that its customers have all the variety they could ever want, especially when it comes to programming from around the world. This week, YouTube TV rolled out its newest channel add-on pack, the Zee Family bundle, which is available to YouTube TV base plan subscribers and through YouTube TV’s Primetime Channels hub. Zee Family includes Hindi-language content from Bollywood, as well as in numerous other languages as well.

  • Zee Family carries a total of 18 channels in 10 languages.
  • The channel pack costs $14.99 per month.
  • The addition could be a big help as YouTube TV prepares to expand to international territories.

The Zee Family pack is great for lovers of all things Bollywood. The package contains 18 channels, and while many of them are in Hindi, the pack features networks in a total of 10 languages. This is the first time that YouTube TV has bundled these channels together and made them available as an add-on.

The channels in the Zee Family add-on — along with their primary language — include:

  • Zee TV (Hindi)
  • Zee Cinema (Hindi)
  • &TV (Hindi)
  • Zee Bollywood (Hindi)
  • Zee Anmol (Hindi)
  • Zee Classic (Hindi)
  • Zing (Hindi)
  • Zee Cinemalu (Telugu)
  • Zee Telugu (Telugu)
  • Zee Tamil (Tamil)
  • Alpha ETC Punjabi (Punjabi)
  • Zee Punjabi (Punjabi)
  • Zee Marathi (Marathi)
  • Zee Talkies (Marathi)
  • Zee Keralam (Malayalam)
  • Zee Kannada (Kannada)
  • Zee World (English)
  • Zee Bangla (Bengali)

The add-on pack costs $14.99 per month, and customers can either add it to their YouTube TV base plan ($72.99 per month) or snag it as a standalone package directly. Unlike some other channels on YouTube TV, none of the selections within the Zee Family pack can be purchased as single, standalone channels.

Why is YouTube TV Adding Zee Family Pack Now?

When meeting with financial analysts to discuss his company’s fourth quarter 2023 earnings in January, Google executive Phillipp Schindler said the company was “closely looking at” an international expansion of YouTube TV. A desire to add more non-English channels to attract more eventual international customers could be a driving force behind adding the Zee Family package. According to YouTube TV representatives, however, the introduction is less about future grand plans for expansion and more about giving current customers more choices.

“We’ve been exploring bringing more foreign language content to YouTube TV for some time,” a YouTube TV spokesperson told The Streamable. “We launched the Spanish Plus add-on and Spanish Plan on YouTube TV, and are continuing to look for more ways to bring the content that our members want to our product.”

YouTube TV’s popularity in the United States shows why Google is seriously considering taking the streamer to new locales. The service is the largest live TV streamer in the country in terms of subscribers, with 8 million customers at last count. In 2023, the streamer won the J.D. Power Award for customer satisfaction, so Google has clearly built a live TV streaming service that works — at least for American consumers.

Viewers are now able to add the Zee Family channel bundle to their YouTube TV subscriptions, which should make fans of Hindi-language content even more satisfied with the service than they already are. The add-on costs $14.99 per month, and viewers do not need a YouTube TV base plan to get it.

YouTube TV

YouTube TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 60 channels for $72.99/month. This plan includes local channels, 32 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs) in select markets. The service includes an unlimited DVR.

With the recent addition of Viacom channels (BET, MTV, Comedy Central, etc.) to the service, they are only without Hallmark and A+E Networks (Lifetime, History, A&E).

They recently added NFL Network and new Sports Plus add-on which include channels like NFL RedZone for $11 a month.

YouTube TV offers select 4K content, including some live sports and on-demand shows, as part of their 4K Plus add-on. The 4K Plus add-on is $9.99 a month and also includes offline downloads and unlimited streams on your home network.

If you want a cheaper service with many of the entertainment channels on YouTube TV, you can subscribe to Philo which includes A+E, Discovery, Viacom, Hallmark, and other channels for just $20 a month after a 7-Day Free Trial.
