The Southern California sports broadcasting landscape is welcoming a new partner, but with branding that many Angelinos will find familiar. Spectrum SportsNet, the regional sports network (RSN) that offers Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Sparks games has announced the creation of a new streaming platform for in-market fans titled Spectrum SportsNet+.

What is Spectrum SportsNet+?

Spectrum SportsNet+ is a new streaming platform that allows in-market fans to enjoy the Los Angeles Lakers. Users will not need a cable or satellite subscription to access Spectrum SportsNet+ as the service can be accessed through the NBA app on smart TVs and connected TVs or via NBA.com. Customers’ cable subscription will allow them to watch at home or on the go, via smart TVs or mobile devices. There was no word on whether the service would offer Los Angeles Sparks games as well as Laker games, initially.

“This new service gives Lakers fans another way to watch their favorite team in action on the court,” said Tim Harris, President of Business Operations, Los Angeles Lakers. “The launch of Spectrum SportsNet+ brings the premium, in-depth coverage, analysis and behind-the-scenes content to more fans across the region, allowing us to reach more people every day and grow the next generation of Lakers fans.”

How Much is Spectrum SportsNet+?

Spectrum SportsNet+ will cost $19.99 per month or $179.99 per season. Unlike some other in-market streaming platforms established for NBA teams recently, Spectrum SportsNet+ does not offer free trials or single-game streaming options.

Where is Spectrum SportsNet+ Available?

Users will be able to purchase a Spectrum SportsNet+ subscription if they live in Southern California, Southern Nevada or Hawaii. No customer outside this area can use the service. Click here to see if you live in Spectrum SportsNet+’s distribution area.

When Does Spectrum SportsNet+ Coverage of the Lakers Start?

The first Lakers game to appear on Spectrum SportsNet+ will be the team’s Oct. 29 matchup against the Sacramento Kings.

How Many Games will Be on Spectrum SportsNet+?

Any time the Lakers are due to appear on Spectrum SportsNet, they’ll be available to stream on Spectrum SportsNet+. If the team is playing on a national channel like ABC, ESPN or TNT, users will not be able to access the game on Spectrum SportsNet+.

What Content Besides Live Lakers Games Will Be on Spectrum SportsNet+?

Spectrum SportsNet+ will include a 24/7 livestream of the linear Spectrum SportsNet channel. SportsNet’s Emmy Award-winning “Access SportsNet: Lakers” pregame show also will air 60 minutes prior to every Lakers game throughout the season, providing game previews and coverage. Immediately following each game, “Access SportsNet: Lakers” postgame coverage will include player and coach interviews, game highlights, and in-depth analysis from Spectrum SportsNet’s expert studio team
