Kroger Subscribers Can Now Get Free Access to on of Disney’s Streaming Services
The new bundling option allows Boost by Kroger Plus members to add one of three Disney-owned streamers at no extra cost.
There’s no denying that customers have signaled their desire for more bundled options. A recent survey from Antenna found that bundles have a marked effect on churn, and the best part about bundles is that they can combine subscription services from across more than one industry. Grocery giant Kroger is now getting in on the bundling game, as subscribers to the Boost by Kroger Plus service can now add one of Disney’s streaming services — Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ — as a benefit of their account.
Key Details:
- Ad-supported Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+ can now be tacked onto a Boost by Kroger Plus subscription free.
- Customers at the $99 per year level get streaming free as long as they have their Kroger Plus account.
- The partnership is similar to the deal between Walmart+ and Paramount+.
Get Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for just $16.99 a month ($14 savings).
Disney and Kroger announced their new partnership this week that will see the grocery chain’s Boost by Kroger Plus subscription service include access to Disney streaming service. The subscription plan customers now have the ability to sign up for the ad-supported Disney streamer of their choice at no extra cost.
Customers who subscribe to Boost by Kroger Plus at the $99 per year level get access to a Disney streamer for as long as they have their Kroger account. Those who subscribe at the $59 annual level get Disney streaming access for six months.
Disney+ is the best choice for families with kids, with a good balance of content for both kids and adults. Hulu is better for kid-free households who love to stream general entertainment mixed with prestige TV, and ESPN+ is the obvious choice for sports lovers.
“Boost by Kroger Plus offers members incredible savings every day, and now we are adding even more value at no added cost for our members,” Kroger SVP Stuart Aitken said. “Collaborating with Disney takes Boost member savings and benefits to the next-level, making our industry-leading program even more valuable and convenient for our members.”
Other benefits of a Boost by Kroger Plus subscription include fuel points for savings at the pump, free grocery delivery, and more. Kroger claims that members can save up to $1,000 every year on the plans.
The collaboration between Disney and Kroger on this bundle is quite similar to the team-up between Paramount+ and Walmart+. In 2022, Walmart and Paramount reached a deal to give Walmart+ customers free access to an ad-supported Paramount+ subscription, an agreement that remains in place today.
Instacart+ subscribers are also able to get in on the streaming game. Last November, Instacart made a deal with NBCUniversal to allow Instacart+ members free access to an ad-supported Peacock plan of their own. More cross-industry bundles like this are likely as consumers look more and more unkindly at rising subscription prices.
