Chicago Sports Network launching new, in-market streaming service

The new Chicago-based regional sports network now has a new way for customers to watch without a cable subscription.

Chicago Sports Network is launching a new direct-to-consumer service on Nov. 15

Chicago sports fans have observed the rollout of the Chicago Sports Network with a mix of optimism and disappointment. The network has become the new home of the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks and will welcome the Chicago White Sox in 2025 as well. However, the launch of the channel has been less smooth than the company would have hoped; it’s still not available on Comcast’s Xfinity TV, for example. But now fans have a new way to watch the channel’s content: a direct-to-consumer streaming service that will be available by week’s end.

Key Details:

  • The Chicago Sports Network streaming platform launches Friday, Nov. 15.
  • The service will cost $20 per month for one team, or $30 to stream games from all three.
  • Pay-TV authentication is coming to the streamer soon.

The Chicago Sports Network streaming service will become available starting Friday, Nov. 15. The streamer will carry live games from the Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox, along with highlights, pr- and post-game coverage, and shoulder programming including “The Chicago Lead,” “The Big College Football Show,” a simulcast of the “Mully and Haugh” radio show, and more.

The streamer will cost $20 per month for customers who pick just one of the three teams to watch, or $30 for fans who want to stream all three. Both plans come with a seven-day free trial to allow viewers to thoroughly test out the streamer before committing.

“We are excited to offer Chicago sports fans a one-of-a-kind digital product enabling immediate access to live games and a complement of personalized, on-demand content,” said CHSN President Jason Coyle. “Today’s announcement is the next step in our long-term commitment to Chicago sports fans everywhere and is another new and compelling way for us to serve and connect with them.”

The streamer will only be available on web and mobile devices initially, though customers will be able to cast it to smart TVs. A connected TV application for Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV devices will be available soon, as will the ability to log into the streamer using pay-TV credentials for customers who get CHSN as part of their cable plan.

The Chicago Sports Network first launched in October, and is available with cable packages or via an over-the-air antenna. The channel is available on DIRECTV and Fubo, with more distributors likely coming soon.
