ESPN+ and SiriusXM Radio Team Up to Provide Free 6-Month Subscriptions
ESPN+ customers will be able to get six months of SiriusXM’s streaming service for free, while Sirius listeners can watch ESPN+ for the same amount of time.
TV and radio have always had a somewhat adversarial relationship, but the two mediums are getting closer together thanks to a new agreement struck between ESPN+ and SiriusXM Radio. Sirius and ESPN+ announced on Tuesday that they would each provide select subscribers the chance to use the other’s service free for six months as part of a limited-time promotion.
Key Details:
- ESPN+ and SiriusXM customers will be able to start accessing this deal sometime before the end of October.
- ESPN+ customers will get access to hundreds of radio channels, while SiriusXM listeners will get tens of thousands of live sporting events every year.
- Customers will have to keep an eye on their emails for a marketing message from ESPN+ or Sirius regarding the offer.
This new promotion may be just the thing viewers who signed up to watch ESPN+ for Monday’s exclusive game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Arizona Cardinals need to stay subscribed to the streamer.
The deal will see ESPN+ subscribers get access to the SiriusXM streaming-only product without cost for six months. It offers hundreds of ad-free music channels, live sporting events, sports analysis channels, comedy, politics, entertainment, and much more, and the full SiriusXM library will be available through the radio service’s app.
“Collaborating with SiriusXM on this offer will not only provide ESPN+ subscribers with access to their vast entertainment offerings, but it also opens the door for SiriusXM customers to experience our premium sports content on ESPN+,” said Sean Breen, EVP for Disney Entertainment and ESPN. “This deal underscores our commitment to providing consumers with unparalleled access to best-in-class programming spanning all genres and interests.”
SiriusXM subscribers — beginning at the Platinum VIP level and expanding to more tiers in November — will be able to watch the more than 32,000 live sporting events ESPN+ offers every year. The streamer carries select “Monday Night Football” games, college football and basketball, soccer, thousands of out-of-market NHL games, UFC pay-per-view events, and a wide selection of other sports.
“ESPN and SiriusXM are powerhouses in sports news and entertainment, and we’re thrilled to expand upon our longstanding relationship with this new agreement,” SiriusXM SVP Jeff Dallesandro said. “Designed to bring listeners and viewers closer to the personalities, players, teams and leagues they love by combining both SiriusXM’s and ESPN+’s live sports programming, exclusive analysis, and extensive on-demand content, this collaboration will deliver value for fans while also potentially driving growth for each brand.”
The deal will become available “later this month,” according to the ESPN and SiriusXM press releases. Customers who are interested in taking advantage should keep an eye on their email, as the offer will be sent to their inbox via a marketing message.
The ESPN+ and SiriusXM partnership is an intriguing one. Giving their customers a six-month free trial of the other service is an especially good offer for sports fans, who will get additional access to top events either on their TV or through whichever streaming devices they use to listen to SiriusXM radio.
