New update should make Fubo a lot smoother to use on Apple TV

The update should help streamline Fubo operations on Apple TV, leading to less buffering and more watching.

Fubo's Apple TV app is getting some key bug fixes in the name of greater improvement.

If there’s a downside to using connected TV streaming apps, it’s that sometimes they’re not always running at peak efficiency. Small bugs can lead to annoying loading times and other such interruptions, and when you’re watching a service like Fubo that you’re counting on to deliver your favorite live sports, the delays can be even more intolerable. Thankfully, the live TV streaming service has announced an update for its Apple TV app which aims to smooth out many of these types of issues.

Key Details:

  • Fubo’s update rolls out fixes for issues that have cropped up with the use of its multiview.
  • Resumption of playback after a pause has also been smoothed out in the new update.
  • Play of both live and on-demand content is better optimized on Apple TVs now.

The new update to Fubo’s Apple TV app has numerous small fixes that could add up to a vastly improved user experience. Upgrades are coming to many facets of Fubo’s operations, from live channels and on-demand playback to premium features like its multiview.

Updates include:

  • Smoother Ad Breaks: Fubo has resolved issues leading to black screens and problems with player controls during ad breaks.

  • Reliable Multiview: Scrolling through potential multiview layouts should be smoother and more reliable, with tweaks to prevent crashes.

  • Guide Upgrades: Guides now come with quicker, more accurate updates to programming schedules and thumbnails in the guide, and the guide is now smoother to scroll as well.

  • Seamless Playback: If you pause playback or are using background content, it’s now easier to resume that content without problems.

  • Enhanced Stability: Fixed app crashes on live channels and playback transitions, ensuring a reliable viewing experience.

Fubo also says that the app now comes with better image loading for faster navigation, and optimized playback performance so moving between live and on-demand content is a more seamless experience. Each of the upgrades is specifically designed to make Fubo easier and faster to use on Apple TV players.

Other recent updates to Fubo haven’t been quite so user-friendly, at least not in the same way. The streamer recently rolled out several new advertising formats, each of which is interactive in some way. That should certainly make it easier to watch and shop at the same time, though many consumers wouldn’t consider more interactive ads as an improvement to any service they were using.

Fubo

Fubo is a live TV streaming service with about 90 top channels that start at $79.99 per month. This plan includes local channels, 19 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). In total, you should expect to pay about $94.99 per month, after adding in their RSN Fee. Fubo was previously known as “fuboTV.”

The streaming service does not carry channels from WarnerMedia-owned (CNN, TBS, and TNT), A+E (A&E, History Channel, and Lifetime), and AMC Networks (AMC, BBC America, and WE tv). So, in our experience, if you are looking to watch the NBA, which heavily plays on TBS and TNT, you may want to look at another live TV streaming provider.

But for other sports fans, especially those who want to stream local sports, Fubo is a great option in our opinion. They recently announced adding Bally Sports RSNs to their channel lineup and it is the least expensive option to get RSNs in many markets like Altitude, AT&T Sports, Fox Sports, Marquee, MSG, NBC Sports, and NESN. (Take a look at the full list of Fubo’s sports channels.)

Fubo also includes MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NFL RedZone , NHL Network, and beIN Sports (which is not available on most services). You can add Fox Soccer Plus as part of the International Sports Plus add-on for $7/month.

You can add the Fubo Extra ($8) to add ~38 channels including GSN.
