What’s Coming to Streaming, Including a ‘WandaVision’ Spinoff and ‘The Kids Tonight Show’

  • A spinoff of Marvel’s WandaVision is in the works, according to sources quoted by Variety. The spinoff will apparently follow Kathryn Hahn’s villainous standout Agatha Harkness from the Disney+ series that streamed last January. According to Variety, plot details remain under wraps, but showrunner Jac Schaffer will serve as writer and executive producer. No time frame yet on when the show will air.

Here are additional deals and projects:

  • The Kids Tonight Show, executive produced by Jimmy Fallon, is a new late-night series launching on Peacock on Oct. 14. After that date, two new episodes drop weekly. Hosted by an ensemble of four talented kids; here the kids are in charge. Shooting in Studio 6A at 30 Rock, across the hallway from Fallon’s own Studio 6B,The Kids Tonight Show offers a child’s view of the well-known adult series.

  • The two-part doc What Happened, Brittany Murphy? will stream on HBO Max on Oct. 14. It is the latest effort to discover what happened to the actress, who starred in Clueless and 8 Mile. Once she married, friends said her husband, Simon Monjack, who died five months after his wife, isolated her. A seemingly healthy woman, Murphy went into cardiac arrest and died at age 32 in December 2009. The official cause of death was listed as pneumonia, but many questioned what really happened to Murphy.


HBO Max is a subscription video streaming service that gives access to the full HBO library, along with exclusive Max Originals. It is The Streamable’s choice for Best Streaming Service of 2022.

HBO Max has two tiers, an ad-supported plan for $9.99 and ad-free plan for $14.99. HBO Max without ads also includes features like the ability to download offline and 4K streaming.

All HBO Max subscribers will get the full libraries of shows like “Friends”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “South Park”, “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, “The West Wing”, and more.

They also will get Max Originals that aren’t available to HBO channel subscribers, like “The Flight Attendant” (Kaley Cuoco), “Love Life” (Anna Kendrick), as well as reboots to “Sex In The City” and “Gossip Girl.”

  • Food Network star and celebrity chef Bobby Flay is set to leave the Discovery-owned network at the end of the year after 27 years. According to multiple sources, both sides were far apart on financial terms when recent contract talks ended. Flay will depart the channel when his contract expires at the end of the year. This news comes on the heels of Food Network closing a huge deal with longtime star Guy Fieri last May that makes him the top-paid chef on cable TV. Both Flay and Fieri have a large presence on the Food Network section of Discovery+.

  • Steve Carell (The Office, The Morning Show) will star in a 10-episode series at FX called The Patient from co-creators Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields (“The Americans”). The plot, according to FX: “A psychotherapist finds himself held prisoner by a serial killer with an unusual request: curb his homicidal urges.”

  • Foundation has landed a second season order from Apple TV+. The adaptation of the award-winning novel series from science-fiction legend Isaac Asimov chronicles the stories of four individuals transcending space and time to overcome a deadly crisis. Launching on Sept. 24, the series quickly resonated with audiences around the world. Episodes debut weekly every Friday.

Apple TV+ is a subscription video streaming service for $6.99 a month that includes high-quality originals shows and movies including Best Picture winner “CODA,” popular sitcom “Ted Lasso,” and dramas like “The Morning Show” and “For All Mankind.” Apple TV+ is also home to MLB baseball games on Friday nights.

They have titles coming from Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jason Momoa, J.J. Abrams, M. Night Shyamalan, Jennifer Garner, and Octavia Spencer.

  • AMC+’s Ragdoll, starring Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve), Thalissa Teixeira (Too Close) and Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars). The six-part AMC+ original series premieres on Nov. 11 with new episodes dropping every Thursday. Six people have been murdered and sewn into the shape of one grotesque body suspended from the ceiling in a block of London flats – nicknamed the Ragdoll. The killer says his next victim with be a police officer.

  • The NBA just debuted NBA Lane, a short film celebrating the league’s storied history ahead of its 75th anniversary season, which will stream across all NBA social platforms and on the web at NBA.com/75. The film stars Michael B. Jordan and more than 30 NBA players who tell their sports stories. The film is set in a fictional neighborhood where Jordan serves as the neighborhood “Hoop Bus” driver taking kids on a tour of a neighborhood that houses decades of basketball culture.


Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” and “The Office,” as well as original hits like “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports including Sunday Night Football, Premier League, and exclusive MLB games. Peacock is also the exclusive home to many WWE events like WrestleMania. Starting Nov. 30, Premium Plus subscribers will be able to stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.

Peacock includes news, entertainment, sports, late-night, and reality from various NBCU properties including NBC, Bravo, and E!.

Peacock also includes the entire library of Bravo shows and has exclusives like “Below Deck: Down Under.” They also include live and on-demand access to Hallmark channels.

The company has acquired the rights to many classic shows like “Parks and Recreation,” and the entire Dick Wolf library including “Law & Order” and “Chicago Fire.”

The service also features blockbusters and critically-acclaimed films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination and content acquired from Hollywood’s biggest studios.
