Monumental Sports Launches Updated Monumental+ App for DC Sports

The app will maintain the same pricing structure, but is relaunching this week with significant upgrades.

The Monumental Sports Network app has been rebranded as "Monumental+".

The 2024-25 NBA and NHL seasons are suddenly mere weeks away, and Washington, D.C.-area fans are getting a big upgrade to the service that allows them to stream Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards contests, as well as the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. Formerly these games were found on the [Monumental Sports Network app], but on Tuesday the streamer announced a big rebrand to “Monumental Sports+,” a changeover fans will see take effect before Thursday’s Mystics game against the Indiana Fever.

Key Details:

  • Monumental Sports+ will keep the same pricing schedule as the Monumental Sports Network.
  • Features of Monumental Sports+ will include multiview, a free ten-minute preview of games, and more.
  • Customers who get Monumental Sports Network as part of their pay-TV subscription can access the app for free.
The new Monumental Sports+ multiview feature will allow customers to stream up to four games at once.

The new Monumental Sports+ will feature much of the same content as the Monumental Sports Network app that preceded it. Live Capitals, Mystics, and Wizards games that are not airing on national TV channels like ESPN or TNT will continue to be available on the app, along with a wide range of shoulder programming.

Among the new benefits of Monumental Sports+ is a multiview feature that will allow customers to watch up to four streams of Washington-area teams partnered with Monumental at once. This will include the ability to pick between up to six alternate camera angles during Capitals and Wizards home games. Viewers will also be able to stream alternate broadcasts for select games and enjoy contests from the NBA G-League’s Washington Go-Go, the Washington Spirit (NWSL), Washington Freedom (Major League Cricket), and Annapolis Blues (NPSL) with a subscription.

“As we move into our second season operating as Monumental Sports Network, our team spent the summer tirelessly working to make our digital and linear experiences the very best in local media,” said Zach Leonsis, executive at Monumental Sports & Entertainment. “Monumental+ is a best-in-class digital experience across multiple devices that allows fans to stream live games on more devices and in more ways than ever before. We’re creating more original shows and exclusive digital content produced by our award-winning production team, and plan to unlock a wide variety of exclusive benefits and surprises for subscribers.”

New shows on the streamer include a series hosted by Washington Post reporter Chris Cillizza on the intersection of sports and politics in our nation’s capital, as well as a program created in conjunction with Sports Business Journal about the business of sports.

Subscribers will also enjoy 5% off tickets to any regular-season Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics game, a 20% discount in the Monumental Shop, pre-sale access to single-game tickets, and more. Customers of the service’s annual plan get even more exclusive benefits, such as meet-and-greet events with Capitals and Wizards players.

The new Monumental+ app will cost the same amount as the Monumental Sports Network app: $19.99 per month, or $199.99 per year. Customers who get the Monumental Sports Network as part of their pay-TV subscription can continue to stream on Monumental Sports+ at no extra cost.
