Breaking: Fubo Adds MASN Baltimore Orioles, Washington Nationals Regional Sports Network Ahead of Baseball Season

Fubo joins DIRECTV STREAM as the only live TV streaming service to carry the channel.

Baseball fans in the DMV, it’s just about time to play ball! Over the past week, regional sports network (RSN) MASN has been signing deals with various channel distributors to ensure that it remains available to fans when the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals start the Major League Baseball regular season later this month. Now, the sports-focused live TV streaming service Fubo has announced a carriage deal that will bring the channel to the service before the first pitch of the season takes place on Opening Day on Thursday, March 28.

  • MASN joins Fubo’s lineup of more than 35 regional sports networks.
  • Previously, MASN was only available to stream on DIRECTV STREAM.
  • Fubo also offers cable channels MLB Network, ESPN, FS1, and more that carry Major League Baseball games.

MASN is the RSN home for both the DMV-based MLB teams. The channel covers all of the regionally available games for both the Orioles and Nationals, including pre and post-game shows. MASN is also the home for sporting events from men’s and women’s college teams in the region as well. By joining Fubo’s channel lineup, the sport-centric service boasts over 35 RSNs in its base package, while most competing streamers only offer the channels in sports add-on packages. Previously, only DIRECTV STREAM provided access to the channel.

“Fubo is proud to be the home for local sports and the addition of MASN will bring Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals fans even more access to their favorite teams for the 2024 MLB season,” Fubo SVP Todd Mathers said. “We look forward to expanding baseball coverage across the mid-Atlantic region with Fubo’s leading MLB offering.”

For baseball fans, Fubo also carries cable channels the MLB Network, MLB Strike Zone, ESPN, and FS1, all of which broadcast regular season baseball games. Customers can also sign up for the league’s out-of-market streaming service MLB.TV through the streamer as well. The one downside for fans of the national pastime is that Fubo does not carry TBS, which also airs regular and postseason baseball games.

“MASN is excited to partner with Fubo and provide Orioles and Nationals fans with an exciting new option to connect with their favorite teams throughout our seven-state television territory,” MASN SVP John McGuinness said. “Fubo has become a leading sports media platform and this new partnership will deliver O’s and Nats baseball to a significant new audience.”

The addition of MASN is another sign of Fubo’s intense focus on streaming sports. Recently, the company has gone on the offensive against Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery, in part because of the companies’ requirement that the streamer carry non-sports channels in order to be allowed to broadcast the sports channels as well. Last month, Fubo filed an anti-trust lawsuit against the media conglomerates because of their recently announced sports streaming joint venture, which Fubo believes is anti-competitive.

Ideally, Fubo CEO and co-founder David Gandler would like to have only channels that cover sports on the service, but under current contracts and the way that channel distribution is done, that’s not possible. Gandler believes that this is part of a deliberate effort by Disney, Fox, and WBD to hamstring his service by forcing them to charge customers for channels that aren’t part of their value proposition.

Nonetheless, the streamer is still looking to grow its 1.6 million customer base with the start of the baseball season and college basketball, NHL, and NBA postseasons approaching. Fubo is currently offering $20 off for the first month of service for new customers. So, whether it is with a more than 20% discount off one month, or the best collection of regional sports networks, Fubo is gearing up for the rush of fans looking to stream their favorite baseball teams.

Fubo

Fubo is a live TV streaming service with about 90 top channels that start at $79.99 per month. This plan includes local channels, 25 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). In total, you should expect to pay about $91.99 per month, after adding in their RSN Fee. Fubo was previously known as “fuboTV.”

The streaming service does not carry channels from WarnerMedia-owned (CNN, TBS, and TNT), A+E (A&E, History Channel, and Lifetime), and AMC Networks (AMC, BBC America, and WE tv). So, in our experience, if you are looking to watch the NBA, which heavily plays on TBS and TNT, you may want to look at another live TV streaming provider.

But for other sports fans, especially those who want to stream local sports, Fubo is a great option in our opinion. They recently announced adding Bally Sports RSNs to their channel lineup and it is the least expensive option to get RSNs in many markets like Altitude, AT&T Sports, Fox Sports, Marquee, MSG, NBC Sports, and NESN. (Take a look at the full list of Fubo’s sports channels.)

Fubo also includes MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NFL RedZone , NHL Network, and beIN Sports (which is not available on most services). You can add Fox Soccer Plus as part of the International Sports Plus add-on for $6/month.

You can add the fubo Extra ($8) to add ~43 channels including Cooking Channel and GSN.
