The culmination of the 2023-24 NFL season is nearly upon us. Super Bowl LVIII will air live from Allegiant Stadium in fabulous Las Vegas, NV, at 6:30 p.m. ET, and will pit the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs against the NFC’s representative, the San Francisco 49ers. One question sure to be at the forefront of fans’ minds is of whether the game will be available to watch or stream in Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) 4K.

  • CBS will broadcast the Super Bowl in UHD 4K for the first time this year.
  • DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo, and YouTube TV are the top live TV services for watching 4K events.
  • Paramount+ will not offer Super Bowl LVIII in 4K.

Will the Super Bowl Be Broadcast in 4K?

Yes it will! For the first time, CBS will offer a 4K broadcast of a live event when Super Bowl LVIII hits airwaves on Sunday. That means fans equipped with a 4K-enabled smart TV will be able to watch in Ultra-High-Definition, ensuring the best available video quality for the most important NFL game of the season.

What is the Advantage of Watching Sports in 4K?

Sports events broadcast in 4K give the cleanest picture and best video quality widely available to consumers. Displays with 4K resolution offer 3,840 horizontal pixels and 2,160 vertical pixels, which translates to an extremely high-quality picture. Sports fans will see every blade of grass, smear of dirt on player uniforms, and every replay as clearly as possible. Given that the Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the entire year, the ability to watch it in 4K will be highly important.

Which Streaming Services Can You Use to Watch Super Bowl LVIII in 4K?

It offers some new users a free trial as well, but not all new customers will get access to the same free viewing period. YouTube TV carries CBS in the majority of top viewing markets.

Will Super Bowl LVIII Stream in 4K on Paramount+?

Unfortunately, no. Paramount+ will offer a livestream of Super Bowl LVIII on both of its subscription tiers, but the streamer will not be carrying the 4K broadcast. No official reason for this has been announced by Paramount, but it’s likely that upgrading Paramount+’s stream of the game to 4K resolution would simply cause too many delays for viewers to make it worthwhile. However, fans can watch the Super Bowl free on Paramount+ and enjoy a full month of free viewing on the service if they sign up before Feb. 10 with promo code hUjR6r.

Paramount Plus

Paramount+ is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 40,000+ TV show episodes from BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and more. The lineup includes “1883,” “Tulsa King,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants,” and “PAW Patrol.” Subscribers can watch the NFL, college football, The Masters, college basketball, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa, Serie A, and NWSL. The service also offers the option to watch your live CBS affiliate. The upgraded ad-free package includes premium movies and shows from Showtime.

With the lower-cost “Essential” plan, you will still be able to watch live NFL games, Champions League, and national news – but you will no longer get your local CBS affiliate.
