‘Christmas Story,’ ‘Elf,’ ‘Friends,’ More Coming to Winter Marathons on TBS and TNT

Many of the titles coming to Winter Marathons on TBS and TNT are already available to stream on-demand on Max.

The onset of November puts the holiday taste in the mouths of many who have been waiting all year for the cooler weather. Suddenly there are less than eight weeks until Christmas, and the holiday programming lineup begins on TBS and TNT on Saturday, Nov. 4 with 24-hour movie marathons, holiday-themed episodes and more.

  • Christmas and holiday movies on TBS and TNT start Nov. 4, when the Will Ferrell comedy “Elf” kicks things off.
  • Holiday content will continue all throughout the months of November and December.
  • Titles like “Modern Family” and “American Dad” only stream elsewhere, but many of these Winter Marathon titles are on-demand on Max.

Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville. In Whoville, live the Whos, an almost mutated sort of Munchkin-like people. All the Whos love Christmas, yet just outside of their beloved Whoville lives the Grinch. The Grinch is a nasty creature that hates Christmas, and plots to steal it away from the Whos, whom he equally abhors. Yet a small child, Cindy Lou Who, decides to try befriending the Grinch.

This is the live-action Grinch film starring Jim Carrey as the mean green guy. Ron Howard directs a cast that includes Christine Baranski, Molly Shannon, Jeffrey Tambor, and a young Taylor Momsen as Cindy Lou Who.
