Everything You Need to Know About Ad-Supported AMC+ Plan

AMC+ has a brand-new, ad-supported plan that all customers can access now!

AMC+ is one of the best prestige TV streaming platforms to have around this time of year. Spooky Season is nearly upon us (or already here for some), and AMC+ subscribers can celebrate properly with titles like “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” “Interview with the Vampire” and other hair-raising series, not to mention the best in horror and thriller movies from Shudder.

Some users might well protest that they pay enough for streaming as it is without having to add another service to their monthly entertainment bill. Streaming without ads has gotten 25% more expensive in the past year, but AMC+ wants to help alleviate those woes. That’s why it now offers a less expensive, ad-supported tier, which is rolling out to customers this week.

“This ad-supported version of AMC+ gives consumers more flexibility while bringing ads to the only piece of our distribution ecosystem that wasn’t already ad-supported,” said Kim Kelleher, chief commercial officer of AMC Networks. “Now, with our linear networks, strong and growing presence on CTV and FAST platforms and ad-supported AMC+, our advertising partners can fully leverage the reach and appeal of our high-quality shows and connect with viewers wherever and however they choose to watch.”

How Much is the New, Ad-Supported Tier of AMC+?

AMC+ with ads costs $4.99 per month, 45% cheaper than the ad-free plan ($8.99 per month). At this time, AMC+ is not offering an annual subscription option for the ad-supported plan.

Is There a Free Trial of AMC+ with Ads?

Yes, the same seven-day free trial that AMC+ has traditionally offered is available with its ad-supported tier.

What Content is Available on AMC+ with Ads?

‘Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches,’ one of the top shows on AMC+.
AMC+’s ad-supported plan comes with the full library of AMC+. That means users will get access to the entire “Walking Dead” franchise, top dramas like “Dark Winds” and “Killing Eve.” AMC+ will also host FearFest this Halloween season, with a bigger selection of shows and movies than ever before.

AMC+ also incorporates full access to other AMC-owned streamers, like Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited. Content from BBC America and AMC’s other linear channels are also available on the streamer, making it one of the most well-rounded offerings available at $4.99 per month.

How Many Ads Are Shown on Ad-Supported AMC+?

AMC+ has pledged to keep the ad load on its new plan limited to around four or five minutes per hour of streaming content. This is about the standard for ad-supported streaming platforms, and still much less than what users are accustomed to on linear television.

Will Ad-Supported AMC+ Allow Downloads?

No. At this time, neither ad-free nor ad-supported AMC+ allows users to download content for offline viewing.

How Many Simultaneous Streams Does AMC+ Allow?

AMC+ allows users to stream on up to five devices simultaneously. For now, it appears that is also the case for the new ad-supported plan.

Does AMC+ with Ads Stream in 4K?

No, as of now neither AMC+ plan allows users to watch content in Ultra-High-Definition 4K.

What Devices Can You Use to Stream AMC+ with Ads?

AMC+ is available to stream on most devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku, Android TV, iPhone/iPad, Android Phone/Tablet, Mac, Windows, Sony Smart TV, and VIZIO Smart TV.
