Fubo Restores Premier Plan, Ditches Ultimate Package; How Can You Watch NFL RedZone Now?

The switch means that Fubo will now be offering the same plans it offered until January of this year.

The mad scientists at Fubo are at it again. The live TV streaming service has been known to change things up without warning, such as when it changed from seven-day free trials to trials of varying lengths for new customers in August.

  • Fubo is doing away with its Ultimate package, and restoring the old Premier plan to its lineup.
  • Ultimate includes the same channels as Premier, but excludes NFL RedZone in exchange for $5 off per month.
  • Fubo users can still purchase the Sports Plus channel pack to get NFL RedZone, but is that the cheapest way to get the channel?

What is Happening to Fubo’s Ultimate Plan?

As of this week, Fubo has discontinued the Ultimate plan for new subscribers. Users who are already signed up for the Ultimate plan will be able to keep it, as long as they don’t cancel their service. If they do so and try to resubscribe, the Ultimate tier will no longer be available.

The Premier plan was first brought to market in January of this year. It replaced the Ultimate plan, which was introduced initially in May of 2022. The two plans were essentially the same, except the Premier plan cost $5 per month more ($94.99 vs. $99.99 for Ultimate), but the Ultimate tier included the Sports Plus add-on, incorporating channels like NFL RedZone into the lineup.

In August, Fubo shuffled the deck again, this time discontinuing the Premier plan and bringing back the Ultimate tier. The move made sense at the time, as the looming return of the NFL season meant that RedZone would be in higher demand.

Confused yet? The important thing to keep in mind is that the Ultimate plan, with its NFL RedZone access, is no longer available to new Fubo subscribers. The Premier plan is back at $94.99 per month, though that price doesn’t factor in the $10.99+ regional sports network fee that 98% of Fubo subscribers have to pay.

How Can You Watch NFL RedZone Now?

If you’re thinking of becoming a Fubo customer worried about losing access to NFL RedZone, don’t worry. Scott Hansen and the seven hours of uninterrupted football that grace RedZone’s airwaves every Sunday are still available with Fubo, you’ll just have to purchase the Sports Plus channel add-on ($10.99 per month) to get it. That package also includes NBA TV, NHL Network, SEC Network, Tennis Channel, and more.

There are other ways to get the NFL RedZone channel, as well. Currently, the best way to stream the channel with a full lineup of other cable channels is via DIRECTV STREAM, which offers RedZone in the Sports add-on package. That costs $15 per month, and when combined with the base Entertainment plan of DIRECTV STREAM ($74.99 per month), the total comes out to $89.99 monthly. Plus, new DIRECTV STREAM customers can get $10 off their subscription for their first three months of service for a limited time.

For an even cheaper way to watch NFL RedZone that won’t bring you the full complement of cable networks, check out Sling TV. Its plans start at $40 per month, and though you’ll need the Sports Extra add-on pack to get NFL RedZone, you’ll still end up paying just $51 per month for all of it. Not to mention, Sling is offering new subscribers 50% off their first month of service currently. The downside to Sling is that it doesn’t offer CBS at all, and the availability of the other broadcast channels that carry NFL games — ABC, FOX, NBC — vary by market.

Hulu + Live TV also requires you to grab an add-on pack to get NFL RedZone. The Sports add-on costs $9.99 per month, which raises the price of Hulu + Live TV to $86.99 per month. But for that price, you’ll get 90+ cable channels, RedZone, and even more via the Disney Bundle. Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu are included in the price of every Hulu + Live TV subscription, so that $86.99 monthly fee will go pretty far.
