About 2024 NCAA Men's Basketball First Four Games

The 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament will feature a total of 68 teams, but only 64 will advance to the first round. The First Four will send four teams home, and four will move on to face their next opponent in the big dance. The First Four sees two games played between the four lowest-ranked teams in the field, and two more games played between the four lowest-seeded “at large” teams.

This year, the First Four will feature games between the Wagner Seahawks and Howard Bison; the Colorado State University Rams and the Virginia Cavaliers; the Grambling State Tigers and the Montana State Bobcats; and Colorado Buffaloes and the Boise State Broncos. The winners will go on to face their next-seeded opponent, while the losers will have to hang up their dancing shoes and look ahead to next year.
