NPR is about to get an adult rebrand. The new Peacock animated comedy series “In The Know,” premiering Thursday, Jan. 25, follows Lauren Caspian (Zach Woods) – well-meaning but totally hypocritical - as he conducts in-depth interviews with real world human guests across funny, scary, and friendly conversations. Oh, and did we mention he’s a stop motion puppet? Each episode in the series will follow the making of an episode of Caspian’s show In the Know, as he collaborates with other NPR staff (also puppets and nimrods) and asks the tough questions through his frail, overconfident male puppet persona that boasts a woman’s name: Lauren Caspian. Don’t miss any of the wacky humor from the mind of the man who’s portrayed some of your favorite characters in shows like “The Office” and “Silicon Valley” - Zach Woods. You can watch In the Know: Season 1 with a subscription to Peacock.
About ‘In the Know’ Series Premiere
Get ready for a new twist on adult animated comedy with “In the Know,” premiering Jan. 25 on Peacock. This fresh series, brainchild of Zach Woods, Brandon Gardner, the legendary Mike Judge (“Beavis and Butt-Head”, “King of the Hill”) and executive produced by Greg Daniels (“The Office”) brings a satirical take on public radio and its quirky characters. At its heart is Lauren Caspian, NPR’s third most popular host and a well-meaning but hypocritical puppet, delivering in-depth interviews with real-life human guests.
Woods and Gardner, both creators and executive producers, aim to shed light on the ironies of modern life and public radio. They describe the show as an honest and humorous reflection of our times, hoping to spark conversations through its unique blend of comedy and gorgeous stop-motion animation by ShadowMachine. The series doesn’t shy away from portraying possibly irredeemable characters who are still lovable in their own way.
“In the Know” isn’t just about laughs; it’s a look at the complexities of societal issues, delivered through the lens of a diverse puppet crew. With six 30-minute episodes, viewers will be treated to a mix of engaging stories and thought-provoking themes, all brought to life by a talented voiceover cast including Zach Woods himself as Lauren Caspian, and Caitlin Reilly as Fabian, the diligent researcher and fact-checker. Get ready to dive into a world where puppets rule the airwaves and nothing is quite as it seems.
