NBA App Introducing New Live Game Experience, Personalization Features and More Ahead of Regular Season

All users will see some of these new features, but NBA League Pass subscribers get an extra layer of improvements as well.

The NBA season is just days away! The 2023-24 NBA regular season begins on Tuesday, Oct. 24, and the league is introducing some new improvements to the NBA App that will help fans get the latest news on their favorite teams and players.

  • New updates to the NBA App include the ability to add multiple team and player tabs to the main screen.
  • NBA League Pass users will be able to switch between broadcast feeds and languages more quickly.
  • Cross-platform watch party feature coming later in the season.

More Customization, More Content

New to the NBA App this year, fans can add multiple team and player tabs to their home screen, which gives them instant access to stats, highlights, and trending news topics about that team or player. Personalized push notifications will alert users when their favorites make a big play or win a crucial game. There’s also a new “Moments” section on the app, which allows fans to scroll vertically social-media style through the top content from across the NBA.

There will be new written and video content on the NBA App this season as well. A daily newsletter titled “Starting 5” will keep track of the top storylines around the league, and will feature contributions from current and former NBA players and coaches, including the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, the Denver Nuggets’ Jamal Murray and more.

On the video side of the content spectrum, the NBA App is bringing another season of “Pass the Rock” to viewers. The show features some of the brightest young stars in the league, such as Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero, New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton. Also new this season is a series called “Bring it Home,” a behind-the-scenes look at the Denver Nuggets’ championship-winning 2022-23 season, narrated by Jamal Murray.
