Peachtree Sports Network Launching in Georgia; How to Stream Georgia Teams

Georgia sports fans will soon have a new channel for watching their favorite local teams. The new “Peachtree Sports Network” from Gray Television is launching on Sunday, Oct. 1 for fans in the Atlanta area. The channel will be a free over-the-air broadcast network, and customers will find it on WPCH 17.2. Comcast and Spectrum cable customers will also have access to the channel.

Peachtree Sports Network will carry games from the NBA G-League’s College Park Skyhawks, as well as high school football provided by Score Atlanta, lacrosse, minor league hockey and ultimate disc. The channel will initially be available only for Atlanta-area fans, but Albany, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah will be added in the next few months.

“As a lifelong sports fan, I know firsthand I became a fan by watching my local teams play on broadcast television,” said WANF and WPCH VP and GM Erik Schrader. “While existing fans may follow their teams behind paywalls, there’s no question that new sports fans are born watching broadcast stations. Georgia has so many tremendous teams that simply need an audience, and so many sports fans that just need a station where they can watch live events. We’re proud and eager to be at the very beginning of what will become a legacy sports tradition across our state.”

Gray has plenty of experience broadcasting local sports by now. The company is now responsible for broadcasting Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury games in Arizona, after both of those teams departed their former regional sports network (RSNs) home Bally Sports Arizona this year. Gray has also reached out to other teams covered by RSNs to offer their services should those teams need a new broadcasting partner in the near future.

What Live TV Services Are Best for Streaming Georgia Sports?

The Peachtree Sports Network will be a gift to Georgia sports fans who love getting more free content. Unfortunately, the channel won’t carry some of the biggest teams in the state, like the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Braves, not to mention the Georgia Bulldogs.

To watch these teams, you’ll need a live TV streaming service that carries the various broadcast and cable channels their games are shown on. The Falcons will play on Fox and CBS for the rest of the season; the Bulldogs also have some games on CBS, as well as on the ESPN family of channels and the SEC Network. ESPN is also home to the NBA, so nationally-broadcast Hawks games are either on that channel or on TNT. Locally, the Hawks play on Bally Sports Southeast. The Braves have an NL East division crown already locked up, and their playoff games will be split between TBS (for NL divisional and championship rounds) and Fox should the team make it to the World Series.

The best choice for streaming each and every one of these teams is a subscription to DIRECTV STREAM. It’s the only live TV service that offers all of the channels needed to stream the Braves, Bulldogs, Falcons and Hawks in the Georgia market, and it comes with both a five-day free trial and a limited-time offer of $10 off per month for three months for new customers. Plans start at $74.99 per month, but you’ll have to upgrade to the Choice package ($99.99 per month) to get Bally Sports Southeast and the SEC Network.

If you live in the Georgia area, you can also stream the Hawks on Bally Sports+. If you do that, you can subscribe to Hulu + Live TV to get all the other channels you’ll need to stream top Georgia sports teams. Hulu + Live TV also comes with the Disney Bundle included in the $69.99 subscription price (rising to $76.99 on Oct. 12), which means you’ll get Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu on-demand with your Hulu + Live TV account at no extra charge. Right now, Hulu + Live TV is offering a special deal to new users; $49.99 per month for their first three months of service.

Fubo doesn’t carry TBS or TNT, but a new announcement from Max means that users of that service will have a workaround to watch Hawks or Braves games on those channels. Starting Oct. 5, Max is adding simultaneous streams of all live sports on TBS and TNT at no extra cost to subscribers. That means Fubo users can get a Max subscription to watch the Braves and Hawks, and enjoy every other channel needed to watch the Falcons and Bulldogs as part of their base subscription for $85.98 per month.

YouTube TV also carries all the channels needed to stream the Falcons, Braves and Bulldogs if you’ve got Bally Sports+ for watching the Hawks this year. Its plans start at $72.99 per month, but there are no free streamers bundled into the price of a subscription.
