“Quad Gods” | Wednesday, July 10

“Quad Gods” comes to Max quickly after its 2024 Tribeca debut. Directed by Jess Jacklin, the acclaimed feature follows Richard, Blake, and Prentice, three New York men with quadriplegia who meet at a Mount Sinai neurological rehabilitation center and later decide to form the first all-quadriplegic e-sports gaming team. Gaming is more than just a hobby for the Quad Gods, both as a component of their cutting-edge neurological rehab and as a source of brotherhood. The documentary will premiere on HBO on July 10 at 9 p.m. ET and will be available to watch on Max.

“Faye” | Thursday, July 18

The 2024 Cannes Film Festival Cannes Classics feature documentary is the first of its kind on icon Faye Dunaway. The Oscar-winning star of “Bonnie & Clyde,” “Chinatown,” and “Network” (all three of which will be added to Max this month on July 1, among other Dunaway films) sits down for the first time to candidly discuss her triumphs, challenges, and regrets, as well as her reputation for being “difficult” and her struggles with her mental health. The film also features interviews with her son Liam Dunaway O’Neill, as well her colleagues/friends including Sharon Stone, Mickey Rourke, and James Gray. “Faye” premieres on HBO on July 13 at 8 p.m. ET and will be available to watch on Max.

“Love Lies Bleeding” | Friday, July 19

A24’s buzziest film of 2024 (so far) makes its streaming debut. The neo-noir romantic thriller written and directed by Rose Glass and Weronika Tofilska stars Kristen Stewart as Lou, a reclusive gym manager who falls hard for Jackie (Katy O’Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But love leads to violence and the pair is pulled deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family. Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris round out the principal cast.

“Charlie Hustle & The Matter of Pete Rose” | Wednesday, July 24

On Sept. 11, 1985, Cincinnati Reds player-manager Pete Rose smacked a single to left-center and became the all-time MLB hits leader, surpassing Ty Cobb and cementing his place in history. Rose has stayed in the history books but with complicated headlines. The new four-episode, two-night docuseries will chronicle the life and career of the polarizing all-time hits leader who received a lifetime ban from the game after it was revealed he bet on Reds’ games during his time as manager and catch up with the 83-year-old Rose today as he embarks on a new bid for reinstatement in the MLB and a place in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The first two episodes will premiere on HBO at 9 p.m. ET on July 24, followed by the next two episodes the next night in the same timeslot, but all four episodes will be available on Max on July 24.
