The National Christmas Tree Lighting | Friday, Dec. 15

CBS will officially haul out the holly for the 101st National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, hosted by Mickey Guyton.

The event, which will take place on Nov. 30 but be broadcast and streamed on Dec. 15, will showcase the official lighting of the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse at The White House and President’s Park in Washington, D.C., and feature performances from Darren Criss, Dionne Warwick, Joe Walsh, Ledisi, Reneé Rapp, Samara Joy, St. Vincent, and the United States Coast Guard’s Guardians Big Band.

“Finestkind” | Friday, Dec. 15

Directed and written by Oscar winner Brian Helgeland (“L.A. Confidential”) the highly anticipated crime thriller is set against the backdrop of commercial fishing and stars Ben Foster and Toby Wallace as two brothers raised in different worlds who are reunited as adults over a fateful summer when desperate circumstances force the brothers to strike a deal with a violent Boston crime gang. Jenna Ortega and Tommy Lee Jones co-star with Ismael Cruz Cordova, Aaron Stanford, Scotty Tovar, Tim Daly, Lolita Davidovich, Clayne Crawford, and others.

Joaquin Phoenix leads the cast of Ari Aster’s (“Midsommar,” “Hereditary”) surreal horror tragicomedy as the paranoia-stricken Beau, who, on a journey to attend his mother’s funeral, realizes his greatest fears along the way. The all-star ensemble also features Patti LuPone, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Michael Gandolfini, Zoe Lister-Jones, Armen Nahapetian, and Richard Kind.

“The 46th Annual Kennedy Center Honors” | Wednesday, Dec. 27

The annual ceremony, which honors those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture, will celebrate the 46th class of honorees: actor and comedian Billy Crystal, soprano Renée Fleming, singer-songwriter-producer-Bee Gees member Barry Gibb, rapper-singer-actor Queen Latifah, and singer Dionne Warwick. The show will air Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and will be available to livestream on the streamer (or watch on-demand the following day).
