Deadpool, Gru and his minions and other favorite characters dominated Super Bowl ads this year, but there were plenty of other streaming-related ads during the Big Game!

The Super Bowl is over, and now football fans face the long, dark offseason. However, the Super Bowl did give viewers of all types some exciting things to look forward to. There is a sizeable audience segment who tunes into the Big Game not for the action on the field, but for the ads shown during commercial breaks. The average Super Bowl commercial cost $7 million this year, and many media companies like Disney, Paramount, and others tried to put their best feet forward by dazzling audiences with ads for big-name movies and top streaming services.

Disney+, Pluto TV, and of course Paramount+ all had prominent ads during the Big Game, showcasing the top content available on each service and hinting at what’s to come in the future. Movies that will undoubtedly draw huge audiences this year, including “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Despicable Me 4,” tried to get fans excited for their forthcoming releases, as movie theaters continue to struggle in reaching pre-COVID attendance levels, but eventually, those films will end up on streaming services.

The Streamable’s experts have combed the internet in search of all TV, movie, and streaming-related Super Bowl ads that aired during the Big Game in 2024. Check below to find your favorites!

Which Streaming Commercials Aired During Super Bowl LVIII?

Patrick Stewart Throws a Football Up Paramount Mountain…Sort Of

Paramount+ released its Super Bowl ad before the Big Game, which makes sense considering it was the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service responsible for carrying the game this year. The ad featured some of the biggest franchises available on the platform and points audiences to the fact that they can watch regular-season NFL games there as well. Characters from the Star Trek franchise, “Hey Arnold!,” and Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa all appear in the commercial.

Paramount Plus

Paramount+ is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 40,000+ TV show episodes from BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and more. Get free access with a Walmart+ subscription.

Paramount+ includes “1883,” “Tulsa King,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” and “PAW Patrol.” Subscribers can watch the NFL, college football, The Masters, college basketball, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa, Serie A, and NWSL. The service also offers the option to watch your live CBS affiliate. The upgraded ad-free package includes premium movies and shows from Showtime.

Be a Couch Potato with Pluto TV

Paramount’s free ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV also got a plug during the Big Game, showing off clips from dozens of popular shows and movies available to stream either via live channels or on-demand on the service. It tries to rehabilitate the term “couch potato,” showing a series of viewers in potato costumes who are proud of their Pluto-binging habits.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV is a free live TV streaming service that provides more than 350 channels of live TV and thousands of on demand movies and TV shows.

Most of what you’ll find on Pluto TV qualifies as “background television.” It’s fine to keep on while you’re scrolling on your phone or cooking something in the kitchen.

Because these aren’t traditional live TV channels, it’s not a great option for live events, news, or sports, but it’s a solid choice for cord cutters who want to supplement their other services with some “comfort food” TV. You’ll find channels dedicated to “Star Trek,” “CSI,” “Jersey Shore,” “Survivor,” and “The Amazing Race.”

Disney Flexes Franchise Muscles

Disney+ went with a “less is more” approach to its Super Bowl ad this year, using a white background with phrases from some of its most famous franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar in plain black text to demonstrate the breadth of popular content it has available.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Shows Off Disney+ Connections

Marvel fans got their first truly great look at “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which has been hampered by production delays from the COVID-19 pandemic and actors and writers strikes. Finally due for a theatrical release this summer, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) from Marvel’s Disney+ series “Loki” plays a big part in the trailer, and will be key to the plot of the film. That also leaves the viewer with the inescapable conclusion that, despite its R-rated content, “Deadpool & Wolverine” will stream on Disney+ when it leaves theaters.
