Is Coach Taylor heading back to Texas for the new ‘Friday Night Lights’? Find out here.

More and more details are emerging about the new Friday Night Lights reboot.

There’s no need to book a plane ticket for your next trip to Dillon, Texas. “Friday Night Lights” is gearing up to transport you back to what is arguably the high school football capital of the world, as the show is getting a reboot on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock. But who’s coming back from the old series to help guide the reboot? Will we get to hear Coach Taylor say “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” again? We’ll run through all the details we have!

Everything we know so far about ‘Friday Night Lights’ reboot

Where will the ‘Friday Night Lights’ reboot stream?

Last month it was reported that the “Friday Night Lights” reboot will be a Peacock-exclusive title, which is fitting considering that NBC was the host of the original TV series, although Seasons 3-5 did premiere on DIRECTV’s Audience Network before heading to the broadcast channel.

Given the show’s enduring popularity on Netflix, the world’s largest streamer reportedly made a big push to try to lock up the rights to the series return, but lost out to Peacock.

What is the new ‘Friday Night Lights’ about?

Like the book, movie, and show that came before it, the new “Friday Night Lights” will focus on the high-stakes world of high school football in Texas. The Dillon Panthers aren’t likely to play a big role, however; instead, the series will reportedly feature a town devastated by a hurricane, whose interim coach-led football team makes a shocking run toward the Texas high school football state championship.

Will the new ‘Friday Night Lights’ follow the same characters?

The rebooted series will not feature a wide range of characters and settings from the original show. The premise and characters are intended to be totally unique, though one or two familiar faces could pop in to establish the show in the same universe as its predecessor. Coach Eric Taylor isn’t expected to make an appearance… as of now at least.

Will any actors from the original ‘Friday Night Lights’ make a cameo?

At least one former star of “Friday Night Lights” has been asked to come back to the reboot series in some form. Deadline reports that Taylor Kitsch — who portrayed Panthers’ troubled fullback Tim Riggins in the series — has been asked to appear. Kitsch confirmed that detail on Sirius XM’s “The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw” to promote another show, but didn’t reveal whether or not he’d agreed to return.

“Never say never, but I would come in and do something, maybe for an episode or something, but I don’t wanna go and do the whole thing,” he said. “I’d go and have fun but I don’t want to lead an ‘FNL’ reboot or anything. I love the continuously challenging roles and to keep pushing.”

Who’s creating the ‘Friday Night Lights’ reboot?

A handful of names from the original “Friday Night Lights” series are working on the new show. Original showrunner Jason Katims, original director Peter Berg, and producer Brian Grazer have all been confirmed to be part of the new series in some capacity.
