Is a bundle of Max and Peacock hitting the market in the next few months?

A new carriage deal between Comcast and Warner Bros. Discovery is stoking discussions that the two could package their streamers together.

One of the top stories in the streaming world this year has been the onset of new bundle options, helping customers combine some of their favorite services together to save money. Disney+ is now available in a bundle with Hulu and Max, and Xfinity customers in the United States can sign up for the StreamSaver bundle of Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV+. Comcast and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a new carriage deal this week, and that leaves room for speculation that the two could be thinking about uniting their streamers in a new bundle in the near future.

Key Details:

  • Comcast and WBD announced a new, multi-year carriage deal on Monday.
  • The deal includes access to Max for Sky TV customers in the U.K. and Ireland when the service launches there.
  • Peacock has been actively seeking new bundle opportunities, and WBD CEO David Zaslav has made no secret of his affinity for bundles.

The new carriage deal between WBD and Comcast will run for multiple years and was first announced by the two companies on Monday. It will allow customers of Xfinity TV in the United States to continue watching CNN, Food Network, HGTV, Magnolia Network, TBS, TNT, and other WBD-owned networks that are included in their channel packages.

Also included in the deal is a provision that will allow Comcast to bundle WBD’s streamer Max with its Sky TV plans in Ireland and the United Kingdom when the service launches there in 2026. That deal will likely resemble the agreement made between WBD and Charter Communications earlier this year, which lets Spectrum TV Select customers in the U.S. watch Max’s ad-supported plan at no additional charge.

Could this deepening of the relationship between the two lead to a new bundle of Max and Peacock? It certainly seems possible given recent moves by Comcast and WBD. Paramount Global engaged with Comcast about a possible bundle of their two on-demand streamers back in February, and though nothing came of talks in the end, it shows at the very least Comcast is thinking about the possibilities.

WBD CEO David Zaslav has been saying for years that more bundles are needed in the industry, and that joining a combination with Disney+ and Max allowed each streamer to do what it does best. A bundle of Max and Peacock could be a powerful sports streaming service, with all the content from TNT, TBS, and truTV available in the Bleacher Report add-on on Max, and Peacock’s already-wide selection of top sporting events.

There was no official announcement that a bundle of Max and Peacock is in the works, but it seems logical given the need for both streamers to reduce churn and create more loyal subscribers. In the wake of the new carriage deal between Comcast and WBD, consumers shouldn’t be surprised if the two companies get their streamers together in a new combo offering soon.
