How much will it cost to stream your top MLB team this year?

How much will it cost to stream your top MLB team this year?

Each MLB club will stream the vast majority of its games on a regional sports network this season, but how much will you have to pay to watch?

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

It’s a historic year for professional baseball. Opening Day 2025 will take place on Tuesday, March 18 when the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs meet for a two-game series in Japan. This will be the earliest scheduled Opening Day in league history, although most MLB clubs will see a more traditional start date of Thursday, March 27.

With that in mind, The Streamable wants to ensure that every fan knows the cheapest way to stream their favorite team’s games during the 2025 season. The vast majority of MLB games aren’t played on national networks like ESPN, FS1, or TBS; rather, they play on regional sports channels that deliver games to audiences in the home markets of the clubs in question.

These regional sports networks (RSNs) aren’t distributed across every streaming service, so we’ll break down the cheapest ways to stream each and every MLB team in the table below.

The Streamable’s experts have been tracking the best ways to watch live sports without cable since 2017, and whether it’s less expensive for you to get a live TV streaming subscription like DIRECTV STREAM or Fubo, or if your club has an on-demand service like the Gotham Sports App — which is offering a special discounted price of $20 per month to stream Yankees games to start the 2025 season — we’ve got you covered.

So which MLB team is cheapest to stream in 2025?

The Pittsburgh Pirates officially have the cheapest monthly option to stream in-market games all season long, as SNP 360 costs just $18 per month. The Texas Rangers don’t offer a monthly subscription on Victory+, but if you do a little math and divide the $100 season price by the number of months in the regular season, it works out to even less, at around $14.28 per month.

Every team that is allowing MLB to distribute their games in 2025 will charge just $20 per month to stream on special, in-market plans from MLB.TV. Only fans living in the home markets of these teams can sign up for these plans, but if your favorite club is one of them and you live in the home market where the team resides, you’re in good shape!

The FanDuel Sports Network streaming service matches MLB.TV in terms of expense, as it too costs $20 per month. So long as you live in the home market of one of the nine teams offered by a FanDuel Sports Network linear channel, you can watch your local club for only $20 monthly with FanDuel Sports Network streamer.

Teams like the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and New York Yankees have on-demand apps dedicated to providing just their games to fans in local markets, usually costing between $20 and $30 per month; however, in most cases you also get live games from other area teams as well. The Yankees have a somewhat unique arrangement, as some of their in-market games are Prime Video exclusives, so you’ll need that streamer and the YES App to watch the team without cable this year.

Otherwise, viewers will have to turn to a live TV streaming service to watch their favorite local MLB team this year. Hulu + Live TV comes with NBC Sports RSNs, and costs $83 per month. Teams with RSNs available on Fubo will cost $101, including the Fubo Pro plan and the $16 monthly RSN fee associated with it. Clubs with RSNs only on DIRECTV STREAM are the most expensive to watch, as their games will cost $115 per month to watch on that service’s CHOICE package.

  • FanDuel Sports Network

FanDuel Sports Network is a direct-to-consumer streaming service that offers live games for those who want access to your local FanDuel Sports Network RSN without subscribing to a cable or satellite package. It was most recently known as Bally Sports, and prior to that, Fox Sports Network.

    …

The service has two plans: a monthly plan for $19.99 a month, or an annual plan for $189.99 per year ($15.83/mo pre-paid annually), after a 7-Day Free Trial.

In areas where fans have access to more than one FanDuel Sports Network sports network, an optional bundle allows the addition of a second channel. The monthly total for two RSNs is $29.99/month.

With the service, you can stream your local games from 13 NBA teams, 8 NHL teams, and 8 MLB teams. See the list below.

The service is only intended for those who live in-market to their local teams. If you live out-of-market, you will need to subscribe to MLB.TV (MLB), ESPN+ (NHL), or NBA League Pass (NBA).

  • MLB.TV

MLB.TV is the official streaming service of Major League Baseball. You can see every out-of-market game live or on-demand and choose home or away TV and radio feeds. The app allows fans to watch up to four games simultaneously on the same screen through its Multi-view feature. MLB.TV can be added to your Sling TV or Prime Video subscription.

    …

Users can choose to follow the entire league for “All Teams” ($139.99) plan, which is also available for “All Teams” ($29.99) a month, or you can stream one team’s out-of-market games for “Single Team” ($119.99).

One major caveat about the service: Your local games may be blacked out through MLB.TV, so you may still need to watch through your local provider. As of 2025, MLB.TV does offer in-market plans for a handful of teams, including the New York Mets, Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants.

If you want to go beyond the games, MLB.TV provides features, documentaries, and classic games.

How do you stream nationally broadcast MLB games?

Keep in mind that depending on your team, there is the possibility — and perhaps even likelihood — that some of your team’s games will not air on an in-market network. Instead, many games will be broadcast on network and cable channels like ESPN, Fox, FS1, MLB Network, and TBS.

Other games will air on Apple TV+ and the Roku Channel. So, if you are looking to watch all 162 games from your favorite team this year, you will need to make arrangements for how you will stream any games airing on those platforms as well. Fortunately, the Roku Channel is completely free and Apple TV+ runs just $10 per month. So, if you want to maximize your baseball viewing, it won’t break the bank.

However, since Apple only airs two games per week, if you want to skip out on paying the extra money for those Friday night games, that probably won’t impact your viewing plans too much. Roku will only broadcast one game per week, always early on Sunday.

  • Apple TV

Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) is a subscription video streaming service for $14.99 per month, offering a growing slate of original series, films, documentaries, and specials. Unlike other platforms that combine licensed titles with originals, Apple TV is built entirely around exclusive programming, making it the home of critically acclaimed hits such as “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” and “Silo.” Its lineup continues to expand with award-winning dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows, and blockbuster original films like “CODA,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

    …

In October 2025, Apple TV agreed to a deal with Formula 1 to exclusively broadcast all Formula 1 races starting with the 2026 season.

Apple TV also features coverage of all regular-season matches for Major League Soccer (MLS) at no additional cost.

On August 28th, 2026, the price of Apple TV was increased from $12.99 per month to $14.99 per month, the second increase in as many years.

The service is available worldwide through the Apple TV app, which is built into Apple devices and supported on most smart TVs, streaming players like Roku and Fire TV, game consoles, and web browsers. Subscribers can watch on demand, download episodes and movies for offline viewing, and stream in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, where available. Apple TV also offers family sharing, allowing up to six people to use one subscription at no extra cost.

With a competitive monthly price and bundles available through Apple One — which combines Apple TV with Apple Music, Apple Arcade, iCloud storage, and more — the service continues to grow as a key part of Apple’s ecosystem. Apple TV delivers one of the strongest collections of exclusive content in the streaming space for viewers seeking prestige originals, cinematic storytelling, and seamless access across devices.

  • Roku Channel

The Roku Channel is a free, ad-supported streaming service that offers a broad mix of movies, TV shows, live linear channels, and original programming. Available to all viewers — not just Roku device owners — the service features licensed content from major studios alongside Roku Originals, which include exclusive series, movies, and specials previously produced for Quibi, as well as new original projects developed specifically for the platform.

    …

Programming on The Roku Channel spans multiple genres, including drama, comedy, reality TV, news, and family-friendly content. Popular titles and originals include “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,” “Die Hart,” “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” and a rotating library of classic films and TV series. The platform also offers live news channels, sports highlights, and themed FAST channels covering everything from classic TV to lifestyle programming.

Viewers can watch The Roku Channel for free on Roku devices, smart TVs, streaming players, mobile devices, and web browsers, with no subscription required. The service is also available on platforms like Amazon Fire TV and Samsung smart TVs, expanding its reach beyond the Roku ecosystem. While ads are included, the experience is designed to be lighter than traditional broadcast television.

With its combination of free access, original content, live channels, and on-demand entertainment, The Roku Channel has become one of the most widely available and accessible streaming destinations for viewers looking to watch without a monthly subscription.

What is the cheapest way to stream out-of-market MLB games?

While watching your favorite team can be a bit complicated if you live in the home market of your favorite squad, it does get considerably easier if you live farther away from the team you root for. That is because Major League Baseball operates the single most innovative platform in sports streaming history MLB.TV. There, you can stream every game not available in the market where you live.

MLB.TV offers a number of different ways to subscribe, and none of them are going up in price for the 2025 season. If you just want to watch your favorite team, you can sign up for $130 for the season. However, if you want to have access to every out-of-market MLB game, you can either go for the $30 per month plan or the $150 option for the full season.

Either way, these packages will cover all games shown on RSNs outside of your home area. So, if your favorite out-of-market team plays the team covered in your market, you will have to find another way to watch. But on the whole, MLB.TV is a baseball lover’s best friend.
