If You Liked ‘The Old Man’ Season 2, We’ve Got Your Next Streaming Obsession
The intense character-driven crime and espionage series wraps up this week, but there’s plenty of other shows to watch next.
After a thrilling Season 2, “The Old Man” finally gets a chance to rest. The hit FX spy drama series, starring Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow, will wrap up its second season this Thursday, Oct. 24 with the episode available to stream the following day, and everything is on the line after Chase (Bridges) has been taken captive, Zoe (Amy Brenneman) leads his rescue mission, and Harper (Lithgow) must fight his past.
But once the dust settles on the sophomore season’s reckonings and revelations, the chase doesn’t have to end here. For more mystery and international thrills after Thursday’s finale, check out The Streamable’s recommendations for what to watch next!
What To Watch Next If You Loved ‘The Old Man’:
The Americans (2013–2018) | Hulu
An espionage series is less of a risk for a network when it’s already produced a near-perfect one. TV writing and character development don’t get much better than FX’s “The Americans,” which ran for six seasons and starred Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as two Soviet KGB intelligence officers posing as an American married couple who increasingly struggle to separate real life and work. The multi-Emmy Award winner also had the rare honor of two Peabody Awards during its run, which ended in 2018 with one of TV’s all-time best series finales.
The Americans
Set during the Cold War period in the 1980s, The Americans is the story of Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, two Soviet KGB officers posing as an American married couple in the suburbs of Washington D.C. and their neighbor, Stan Beeman, an FBI Counterintelligence agent.

Bosch (2015–2021) | Prime Video
Michael Connelly’s “Bosch” book series adaptation had a slow start in the way most cop shows do, but the Titus Welliver-led series hit its stride immediately in its second season, leaning into the pulp and neo-noir of old-school detective dramas mixed with a modern procedural. Welliver plays the title former Special Forces officer turned LAPD Hollywood Division homicide detective, investigating suspicious deaths and corruption, including within his own department. Seasons 2 through 7 hold 100% Certified Fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, and the series only gets better as it goes on. Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, and the late Lance Reddick co-star.
Bosch
Based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling novels, these are the stories of relentless LAPD homicide Detective Harry Bosch who pursues justice at all costs. But behind his tireless momentum is a man who is haunted by his past and struggles to remain loyal to his personal code: “Everybody counts or nobody counts.”
Slow Horses (2022–) | Apple TV+
We can’t and won’t stop recommending “Slow Horses,” Apple TV+’s hit espionage black comedy and thriller based on Mick Herron’s Slough House novels. The series, one of the streamer’s best, just wrapped up its fourth season, continuing its streak as one of TV’s most reliable and explosive series. Like “The Old Man,” the Apple TV+ series stars an Oscar winner— Gary Oldman in this instance, who plays Jackson Lamb, the head of the MI5’s Slough House, an outpost where agents’ careers go to die after they’re exiled due to field mistakes. Jack Lowden, Kristen Scott Thomas, Sophie Okonedo, Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, and more make up the rest of the motley crew, who make it so easy to overlook their (and the show’s) mistakes.
The economical six-episode seasons will make the catch-up quick, and once you’ve watched both “The Old Man” and “Slow Horses” (plus our other recommendations), The Streamable’s experts have even more recommendations for your watch list.
Slow Horses
Follow a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents—and their obnoxious boss, the notorious Jackson Lamb—as they navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.
