About the NFC Championship Game Between the Lions and 49ers

The Detroit Lions are hoping to end one of the most crushing streaks in NFL history. The franchise is the only one to have played in every season of the Super Bowl era, but never make the Big Game. The Lions have four NFL Championships from before the 1970 merger with the AFL. The 49ers, on the other hand, were one of the most dominant franchises of the 1980s, winning four titles during the decade and adding another in 1994. However, that was their last Super Bowl victory.

The Lions come into the NFC Championship Game having knocked off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round 31-23. Quarterback Jared Goff was 30-for-43 for 287 yards and two touchdowns while the Detroit defense sacked Bucs’ QB Baker Mayfield four times and intercepted him twice.

The Niners won a thrilling matchup with the Green Bay Packers last week 24-21. San Fran QB Brock Purdy was a solid 23-for-39 throwing the ball for 252 yards and a TD. Running back Christian McCaffrey went for 98 yards on the ground with two rushing touchdowns in addition to 30 yards receiving.
