TBS Announces Latino-Focused Alternative Broadcast for NLCS; All Coverage Will Also Air on Max

Fans of the Senior Circuit, your time is now. The 2023 National League Championship Series opens on Monda, Oct. 16 as the Arizona Diamondbacks visit Philadelphia Phillies. First pitch will happen at 8 p.m. ET and this year, Warner Bros. Discovery will provide multiple ways for fans to catch all of the action. The main broadcast will air on its traditional cable home of TBS, but thanks to the company’s new Bleacher Report Sports Add-On, baseball fans will also be able to watch on Max. However, that’s not all as WBD will air a special Latino-focused alternate broadcast for the MLB series on truTV for each game of the series.

  • 2023 NLCS games will be available in English on TBS and Max.
  • truTV will air an alternative broadcast that focuses on cultural conversations with Latino big leaguers.
  • Both the English and Spanish broadcasts will also be available to stream on Max.

The first-ever “Postseason ALTcast: Peloteros” will focus on conversations from a diverse panel of some of the best current and former Hispanic Major League Baseball peloteros — ballplayers in Spanish — including contributions from Pedro Martínez, Albert Pujols, Yonder Alonso, Néstor Cortés, Kiké Hernández, and more. Alanna Rizzo will serve as the host for the alternative broadcast.

On the main NLCS broadcast, Brian Anderson will provide play-by-play for the seventh-straight season and he will be joined by World Series Champion Ron Darling and 12-year MLB vet Jeff Francoeur. Matt Winer will provide reporting from field level.

TBS and Max will also provide complete pre and postgame coverage with “MLB on TBS Leadoff” airing 30 minutes before each contest and “MLB on TBS Closer” coming immediately after the conclusion of every game. At the desk for these contests will be host Lauren Shehadi alongside Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez, 2007 NL MVP Jimmy Rollins, and 16-year MLB veteran Curtis Granderson. Two-time World Series champion Albert Pujols will also join the studio for coverage of Games 1 and 2, with additional special guests joining throughout the series.

What Else Is Available on Max’s Bleacher Report Sports Add-On?

After being announced last month, Warner Bros. Discovery officially launched the Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On earlier in October with the start of the MLB playoffs.

The B/R Sports Add-On is currently free to all Max subscribers, allowing them to sample all of the live sports offerings from across WBD’s domestic outlets at no additional cost. The streamer is taking the unusual step of keeping this highly desirable content free for nearly five months before moving making it a true add-on for $9.99 per month. The timing means that if you want to stream NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games without a live TV streaming subscription, you will have to opt for the sports tier.

The B/R sports add-on will feature more than 300 live domestic and international sporting events throughout the year, and will also feature Bleacher Report live, original video content, and a deep lineup of complementary programming.

While the start of the baseball postseason is certainly a major cornerstone of sports tier’s launch, there is plenty of other action that you can catch on Max throughout the course of the month, including exciting NHL action, United States national team soccer, and NBA games, including two marquee matchups on Oct. 24, the league’s opening night.

What Major Events Will Be Available on the B/R Sports Add-On Other Than Baseball in October 2023?

Tuesday, Oct. 17

  • U.S. Soccer: USMNT vs. Ghana at 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 18

  • NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins at Detroit Red Wings at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 24

  • NBA (Opening Night): Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets at 7:30 p.m.
  • NBA (Opening Night): Phoenix Suns at Golden State Warriors at 10 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 25

  • NHL: Washington Capitals at New Jersey Devils at 7:30 p.m.
