Which Major League Baseball Team is the Cheapest to Stream in 2024?

Which Major League Baseball Team is the Cheapest to Stream in 2024?

There are more ways than ever to watch MLB teams without a cable subscription in 2024, but which squad is the least expensive?

Opening Day is approaching, MLB fans! Starting Thursday, March 28 the Major League Baseball season begins, and each team offers a different way to watch its in-market games. No team has yet moved their non-national games to local broadcast channels, so fans will have to turn to pay TV or streaming sources to watch them on a day-in, day-out basis.

Given the fact that every team has a different local broadcasting arrangement, confusion from fans surrounding how to watch in-market games is completely understandable. With streaming and pay-TV costs seemingly rising every day, it’s also hard to know whether you’ll be able to afford to watch your favorite MLB team this year! The good news is that The Streamable’s experts have been keeping track of how to stream every MLB team since we started in 2017, and we can tell you the cheapest team to stream this year, along with how to find your squad’s games and how much it’ll cost!

If you live in the home market of your favorite team, then you will likely have multiple options from direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming services like Bally Sports+ and the YES App to live TV streaming services like Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM. We have our expert picks for how to stream each club’s in-market games below.

However, if you do not live in the same market as your favorite MLB team, then your best bet is to sign up for Major League Baseball’s DTC service MLB.TV. It will carry every game that is not airing on a national outlet, so you can keep up with your squad all year long. MLB.TV will also be the in-market streaming option for some teams as well, so check out the full list of expert recommendations below.

Which MLB Team is the Cheapest to Stream?

As noted above, the New York Yankees play a handful of games every season on Prime Video. These games are only available to in-market fans in the Yankees’ normal TV footprint of Connecticut, the state of New York, north and central New Jersey, and northeast Pennsylvania. This year, Prime Video will carry 21 total Yankees games.

This represents just over 10% of Yankees games total, however, and no other team has such arrangements to stream a portion of their schedule on a subscription video service like Prime Video. That means the cheapest way to watch the most in-market MLB games per season is either through Bally Sports+ or MLB.TV, both of which cost $19.99 per month to stream select teams.

There’s a big caveat to declaring these platforms the cheapest, however: both offer a highly limited number of teams. Bally Sports+ only owns the streaming rights to the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays. On the MLB.TV side, only the three teams whose games are being broadcast by the league itself this year are available for $19.99 per month for in-market fans: the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, and San Diego Padres.

These are the eight cheapest teams to stream in-market in 2024. If your team is among them, you’re in luck! If not, check the table above to find the least expensive way to stream your favorite ballclub’s in-market games in 2024.

  • Bally Sports+

Bally Sports+ is a direct-to-consumer streaming service that offers live games for those who want access to their local Bally Sports RSN without subscribing to a cable or satellite package.

The service has two plans: a monthly plan for $19.99 a month, or an annual plan for $189.99 per year ($15.83/mo pre-paid annually), after a 7-Day Free Trial.

In areas where fans have access to more than one Bally sports network, an optional bundle allows the addition of a second channel. The monthly total for two RSNs is $29.99/month.

With the service, you can stream your local games from 16 NBA teams and 11 NHL teams.

In addition to NHL and NBA, there are five MLB teams available to stream: Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Miami Marlins, Kansas City Royals, and Tampa Bay Rays. Sinclair has yet to get approval from MLB to stream the rest of the teams that they own the traditional broadcast rights for.

The service is only intended for those who live in-market to their local teams. If you live out-of-market, you will need to subscribe to MLB.TV (MLB), NHL.TV via ESPN+ (NHL), or NBA League Pass (NBA).

  • MLB.TV

MLB.TV is the official streaming service of Major League Baseball. You can see every out-of-market game live or on demand, and choose home or away TV and radio feeds. The app allows fans to watch up to four games simultaneously on the same screen through their Multi-view feature. MLB.TV can be added to your Sling TV or Prime Video subscription.

Users can choose to follow the entire league for “All Teams” ($149.99) plan, which is also available for “All Teams” ($29.99) a month, or you can stream one team’s out-of-market games for “Single Team” ($129.99).

One major caveat about the service: Your local games may be blacked out through MLB.TV, so you may still need to watch through your local provider.

If you’d like to go beyond the games, MLB.TV provides features, documentaries, and classic games.

  • Fubo

Fubo is a live TV streaming service with about 90 top channels that start at $79.99 per month. This plan includes local channels, 19 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). In total, you should expect to pay about $94.99 per month, after adding in their RSN Fee. Fubo was previously known as “fuboTV.”

The streaming service does not carry channels from WarnerMedia-owned (CNN, TBS, and TNT), A+E (A&E, History Channel, and Lifetime), and AMC Networks (AMC, BBC America, and WE tv). So, in our experience, if you are looking to watch the NBA, which heavily plays on TBS and TNT, you may want to look at another live TV streaming provider.

But for other sports fans, especially those who want to stream local sports, Fubo is a great option in our opinion. They recently announced adding Bally Sports RSNs to their channel lineup and it is the least expensive option to get RSNs in many markets like Altitude, AT&T Sports, Fox Sports, Marquee, MSG, NBC Sports, and NESN. (Take a look at the full list of Fubo’s sports channels.)

Fubo also includes MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NFL RedZone , NHL Network, and beIN Sports (which is not available on most services). You can add Fox Soccer Plus as part of the International Sports Plus add-on for $7/month.

You can add the Fubo Extra ($8) to add ~38 channels including GSN.

    7-Day Trial

Get Your First Month of Fubo for Only $74.99 (normally $95) after your Free Trial.

  • Hulu Live TV

Hulu Live TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 70 channels for $82.99/month. Hulu + Live TV base plan includes local channels, 33 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). Subscribers get free access to Disney+ and ESPN+ at no extra charge.

The service provides an unlimited DVR with the ability to skip through commercials. You also have the option to upgrade for premium channels, unlimited screens, and commercial-free access to Hulu’s on-demand library.

  • DIRECTV STREAM

DIRECTV STREAM is The Streamable’s choice for the best live TV streaming service for users who want the most channels. With an unbeatable lineup of local, news, sports, and entertainment channels, four main channel packages, an unlimited DVR, and 20 simultaneous streams at home, DIRECTV STREAM is a great choice for any cord-cutter.

DIRECTV STREAM starts at $86.99 / month for their Entertainment package. You can access your local regional sports network with the Choice package, which begins at $114.99 / month They also have an Ultimate ($129.99) for 215 channels and Premier ($169.99) for 220 channels. There is no contract, no extra RSN fees, and no broadcast TV fees.

The service was previously called AT&T TV.

    5-Day Trial

Choose $15 OFF each month for the first 2 months of Entertainment with Sports Pack or $20 OFF each month for the first 3 months of Choice or Ultimate.
