‘Yellowstone’ November Premiere to Air on CBS After Paramount Network Debut

The newest episodes of ‘Yellowstone’ will come to airwaves starting Nov. 10.

Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 will air its premiere episode on CBS as well as Paramount Network.

The contemporary Western drama “Yellowstone” has had a long journey back to TV. From a writer’s strike that hobbled big-name productions across Tinseltown to a dust-up between the show’s leading actor and its co-creator, “Yellowstone” saw so many challenges in bringing the second half of its fifth season to audiences that some began to wonder if the episodes would ever air. But come Nov. 10, “Yellowstone” will bring the premiere episode of Season 5, Part 2 not only to the already-scheduled Paramount Network but to CBS as well.

Key Details:

  • “Yellowstone” Season 5, Part 2 begins airing at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 10.
  • The episode will presumably be edited for content before premiering on CBS.
  • The arrangement technically means some Paramount+ customers will be able to watch the episode with their subscriptions.
The airing of Yellowstone episodes on CBS means that Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers can also watch live.

The announcement that “Yellowstone” would air the debut episode of Season 5, Part 2 on CBS was first handed down on Thursday. The episode will air on the Paramount Network cable channel first, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 10. Then, at 10 p.m., CBS will get its turn to broadcast the episode.

This is not the first time CBS has aired episodes of “Yellowstone.” Last fall, the Eye Network made past episodes of “Yellowstone” a cornerstone of its Sunday night lineup as it tried to fill programming holes left as a consequence of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Presumably, much like last year’s broadcasts the debut of Season 5, Part 2 will be edited for content to make it broadcast-appropriate.

Fans who tune in to watch the show would do well not to count on any appearances by Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton. Costner is officially not returning to the show after frequent clashes about his schedule and priorities with “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan left him unwilling to return to set.

It was thought that Season 5 would be the final batch of episodes before Sheridan set his sights on other titles set in the same universe. But recently, news broke that “Yellowstone” was coming back for a sixth season, featuring whichever Dutton family members survive the end of Season 5.

The return of “Yellowstone” to CBS means that some Paramount+ subscribers will be able to stream the Season 5, Part 2 premiere. Paramount+ with SHOWTIME carries a live stream of local CBS stations across the United States, so for $13 per month (after a seven-day free trial) you can watch any episodes of “Yellowstone” that air on CBS live with a subscription.

Peacock will remain the on-demand streaming home of “Yellowstone” for the foreseeable future, and Season 5, Part 2 will eventually end up there as well, alongside the rest of the show’s episodes.
