What to Know About the Future of ‘Yellowstone’:
Are There Any Promo Images from ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5, Part B?
With less than three weeks remaining until the return of “Yellowstone,” Paramount has released a number of promotional materials intended to get fans not only excited about new episodes but also to remind them of what was going on with the Dutton family and the Yellowstone ranch when last we saw them.
First, the network released a number of images focused on the “Yellowstone” ensemble. Since Kevin Costner will reportedly not return for the rest of Season 5 — and presumably any subsequent seasons — he is not featured in any of the images. Instead, Beth and Jamie Dutton, Chief Thomas Rainwater, and various hands from the Dutton ranch are featured prominently.
Then, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, Paramount Network released a promo video for the final episodes of “Yellowstone” Season 5. Unlike the first-look images, Costner is featured pretty heavily in the video. Could that mean that the patriarch of the Dutton clan could return? We will have to wait until Nov. 10 when episodes begin airing to find out.

When Will Season 5 of ‘Yellowstone’ Return?
Fans of “Yellowstone” have been in limbo ever since Jan. 1, 2023, when the last episode of Season 5, Part 1 aired on theParamount Network. Since then, behind-the-scenes drama between Sheridan and the show’s star Kevin Costner has spilled into the public view, with each blaming the other for delays and production misfires.
Production finally restarted on the series in May, and in June it was confirmed that the second half of Season 5 would begin airing on Nov. 10, 2024. It was thought that Season 5, part B would be the final episodes of the show, and Costner has confirmed he’s not coming back, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted the “drama” to end.
Surprising the world, however, news broke in late August that “Yellowstone” would continue for a sixth season, even with all the other spinoffs that are currently in the works. The new season will be focused on Beth Dutton and her new husband Rip Wheeler, and will continue without the involvement of Costner.
What Is the Status of the Modern-Day ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoffs?
Sheridan is reportedly at work on not one, but two modern-day “Yellowstone” spinoffs. The one we have the most information on is “The Madison,” which formerly received the working title “2024.” Previous reports indicated that the show would launch in December, but with casting still occurring, that timeline will almost certainly have to shift into at least 2025, however, with Sheridan, you can never be quite sure.
Michelle Pfeiffer is now officially attached to star in “The Madison,” which shifts the scene from Wyoming to Montana and follows a New York family set against the backdrop of the Western wilderness. On Tuesday, “Suits” star Patrick J. Adams was officially added to the cast, along with Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett, and Amiah Miller. Kurt Russel has also been mentioned in connection with the show, though no official casting news on his involvement has been handed down yet.
Matthew McConaughey has been rumored to be attached to the show that turned into “The Madison” since spring of 2023, but it now appears he’s no longer involved. Another famous Matthew, Matthew Fox of “Lost” fame, has been confirmed as a cast member by Paramount.
There’s a second “Yellowstone” spinoff in the works as well. The show is titled currently working under the name “6666,” and will shift the scene from Wyoming to Texas and the Four Sixes Ranch. The show could focus on “Yellowstone” character Jimmy Hurdstrom, who was written off that show in Season 4, but returned for one episode of Season 5, in a possible tease that he could return in “6666.”
There’s been few updates on this show since it was announced, so it’s hard to say when it will actually premiere. But, considering that Sheridan led the group that bought the ranch in 2021 — and he now lives there — it would stand to reason that a show set there will happen eventually.
Where Can You Stream All of the Shows in the ‘Yellowstone’ Franchise?
Much of Taylor Sheridan’s work is available on Paramount+, including shows set in the “Yellowstone” universe such as “1883” and “1923.” The streamer will also host episodes of “The Madison” and “6666” when they eventually premiere, though first those episodes are likely to air on the linear Paramount Network.
Paramount+ is also home to “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” which was originally conceived as a spin-off of “1883,” but as of its premiere last November, officially does not share a universe with the Duttons of “Yellowstone.”
Despite Paramount being Sheridan’s creative home, Paramount+ is not the streaming home for “Yellowstone” thanks to a licensing deal that Paramount executives have identified as a clear misstep. Before Paramount launched Paramount+’s predecessor CBS All Access in 2021, it licensed the streaming rights to “Yellowstone” to NBCUniversal for placement on its streamer Peacock. However, the show still resides there today, and the end of “Yellowstone” also means the end of a costly mistake for Paramount.
